Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or ADHD? Do you often feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, and maybe lost? Many people find it challenging to get through the day, answer emails, texts, or calls, and feel disconnected from themselves and others. It's common to wonder if life should feel somehow better or brighter. Now more than ever, people are experiencing overwhelming and uncertain feelings about their relationships, careers, school, and finding their place in life, or working through a loss. These impacts run deep, often affecting our mind, body, spirit, and self-esteem.

Depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or challenges in relationships and parenting can be overwhelming.
I believe that each individual has the capacity for growth through self-awareness and acceptance. I have supported individuals to recognize their optimal potential, develop and maintain healthy meaningful relationships, while making choices that are in the interest of oneself and others. I help my clients free themselves from disabling assumptions and attitudes so they can live fuller lives. As a trauma-informed therapist, I aim to create a warm, non-judgmental environment to facilitate growth and change.

The mental health professionals at The Dot are trained in many different types of therapy that can help with issues related to trauma, grief, relationship issues (yes we do couples counselling) depression, anxiety and more.
If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

I am a registered psychotherapist qualifying and I am an advanced grief recovery specialist.
If you are feeling scared, anxious, depressed, angry, burned out or hopeless, then this is the right first step on the path of healing. Often we have tried to manage things alone, finding ways to cope but it isn't making a dent in our day to day lives. Past trauma, challenging relationships and unresolved issues can eat away at us, robbing us of a peaceful and fulfilling life. You may want to find relief from your emotional pain and the accompanying stress so you can feel better, have deeper clarity and be able to move forward in life.

I also pull a lot from lived experience – especially, when working with my clients who are struggling with grief, cancer diagnosis, and supporting loved ones through difficult transitions.
Welcome! Let me start out by telling you what I tell all my potential clients: Therapy is such an individual process and so much of it has to do with finding the right therapist. Many of us have similar training and areas of expertise but we all differ in personality. I want to use this space here to give you an idea of my vibe and approach. I’m a little quirky with a gentle approach and strong ability to challenge you and explore with you. I can sit with you in heavy spaces, difficult feelings, and complex thoughts.

My areas of focus include: life stress, confidence, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, infertility, injury, chronic pain, relationship stress, work stress, burn out, identity and self-development.
I believe that we all possess resilience to overcome life's challenges. Therapy is one way in which we can raise our awareness of our untapped strengths. I have studied psychology and have worked in healthcare for over 25 years. First, as an Occupational Therapist and then as an Executive in healthcare organizations. I completed my Master's degree in Rehabilitation Medicine and investigated processes that assist individuals to overcome pain and return back to function. Later, in my academic career, I earned a PhD in the field of organizational behaviour and examined how people, teams, and work environments support one another.

Accepting new clients! My psychoanalytical practice is grounded in the belief that long-standing, repetitive issues — those that seem to resist resolution despite your best efforts — are most effectively addressed by uncovering unconscious motivations that drive thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. I work with challenges like stress, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, identity confusion, loss, addictions, physical illness, and family-of-origin issues.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
