Navigating the ups and downs of life is challenging, especially if we feel alone and disconnected from ourselves in the process. Maybe you started exploring your options for therapy because you have been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or detached from your life. Or perhaps you are struggling with low mood, loss of interest, or low motivation. Maybe you are finding your relationships strained or unfulfilling or you are trying to navigate a significant loss in your life. Perhaps you can’t quite put your finger on what the issue is, but you are tired of feeling this way. Whatever the reason, I am so glad that you are here.
"Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for". (V. Frankl) Are you wondering "why", "what next", or "what for"?" Are you looking for a change, or has a change been handed to you? You have the courage to ask these questions, to look at who you are, and to think about what's next for you. You may feel alone, or unable to answer these questions. I can offer you an opportunity to explore your strengths and challenges, and, in doing so, discover opportunities and resources that will help you move forward. "Challenging the meaning of life is the truest expression of the state of being human". (V. Frankl)

What I believe about therapy: 1. It's an art, a science, and a sacred exchange--the process relies on clinical insights, intuition and creativity, and the ineffable chemistry between client and therapist that generates trust and safety to do deep, transformational work; 2. Relationship is key: it's about fit, and I'm interested in helping you find a good one (if it turns out that's not me, that's ok!); 3. The heart, mind, body, and spirit are all component parts of health and well-being; 4. Personal growth can be painful--but worth it--and compassionate accompaniment on the journey is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.
The pandemic has put a strain on many areas of life, particularly for intimate partnerships. The primary focus in my couples work has been helping partners build towards a healthier more fulfilling relationship. In couples work I am committed to helping partners see and feel seen by each other. We look at patterns that impact behaviours and focus on tangible ways to facilitate connection, communication and intimacy. My training was through The Gottman Institute and includes testing and interventions from this program along with alternative frameworks for a holistic approach. My practice is inclusive of all types of relationships.

It takes courage to seek support and my goal is for you to feel supported, seen and empowered in our work together. As a therapist, I utilize my lived experience as an Afghan diaspora, where I aim to support clients’ mental health from an intersectional approach. I strive to understand the sociopolitical, cultural, and historical factors that contribute to the client’s health and healing.
