I am goal directed and believe that people have the ability to solve their own problems. Therapy is simply a means to realize the potential for change that exists in all of us.
As a registered clinical social worker/psychotherapist, I have spent over 20 years supporting children, adolescents and adults in the area of mental health and wellbeing. I adopt a client-centred approach utilizing various treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I work in partnership with my clients to help them gain insight into presenting challenges, while helping them move forward and overcome obstacles that restrict them from living a more balanced life.
In my practice, I assist clients with life's difficult challenges preventing them from being present and living a fulfilling life. I strive to create a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to discuss their concerns and be their authentic selves. Through Integrative Counselling, I will use multiple approaches to tailor the counselling process to each individual's needs. I will also address the whole person by taking into account the relationship between the client’s emotional, physical and spiritual states.
The desire for self-awareness, personal growth, and change often motivates individuals to seek out psychotherapy. Disharmony within our sense of self and others can lead us to experience thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that prevent us from living our happiest and most authentic selves. Whether it is coping with grief and loss, processing trauma, or navigating existential concerns regarding identity or purpose, self-exploration within a psychotherapeutic relationship can move us towards an increased awareness of how these dynamics operate within our lives, and forging commitments toward actions that yield meaningful change.
I want to understand the intricate details of your life that make you uniquely you and would be honoured to facilitate the process of your self discovery and healing. I love working with individuals in all walks of life including but not limited to individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, issues controlling anger, individuals wanting to improve self-esteem, those suffering from grief and loss of relationships, addictions, as well as those individuals looking for support with general life stressors.
What has brought you here? A difficult diagnoses, an unending rut, conflict in a relationship? None of us can walk through life unscathed. Depression, anxiety, illness, addictions, family conflict, these things can leave us feeling hopeless and without options. Having the courage to try something different may be the first place to start. I am privileged to be part of a community of professionals that assist in navigating through life’s difficulties.
