I believe that mental health services should be different for women on their motherhood path. Whether you are struggling with fertility / IVF, a new mother adjusting to life with a baby, or a mother who is trying to do the best to parent your child but struggling with your own history or lacking a support system....we can help. I developed FLUFF because I felt that women needed something that was softer, easier, more accessible and had different options for our care. Something for every one of us, no matter where we are on our journey, so no woman is left behind.

Maybe you're here because you are struggling in your primary relationship; having the same old arguments with your partner, feeling disconnected & longing for more intimacy, or dealing with a difficult life event, such as a betrayal. Perhaps you're looking for help because you are feeling stressed out, anxious, and are tired of being so hard on yourself. Or maybe you're having a difficult time relating to family members or friends - unresolved tension with parents, feeling at sea with how to relate to your kids, or not feeling like you can relax & be yourself around others. The focus of my work is helping people with relationships.

Sometimes, we may find ourselves facing life experiences which bring us suffering and we have not enough answers. We might feel strange, anxious, sad, worried with symptoms of emotional pain. On these moments, a therapist assistance would provide a safe, healthy environment to work on those issues. The therapy environment aims at allowing you the possibility to access to the root of difficulties rather than looking at exterior manifestations During our sessions, I will not judge either your past or present choices. My private practice includes services in Spanish (my mother tongue) providing brief and long-term treatment.

Sometimes words are not enough to express our emotions when experiencing trauma or distress, but art-making and creative thinking have the power to inform us about our feelings and how we relate to them. Expressive Arts Therapy can change the meaning, the structure and the ways of relating with suffering. Learn to recognize your emotions, explore change, and transform suffering through creativity, artistic expression, and imagination. Think of it as an arts-based exploration where you will be able to collect knowledge and legitimize your wisdom.

CONFUSED, drained or ALONE in your relationships? Are you putting the needs of others before your own? Are you changing yourself (like a CHAMELEON) in order to feel appreciated? If the other person becomes your main focus and you modify your behaviors and subjugate your needs to keep the relationship going at any cost, you have codependency. CODEPENDENTS are MAGNETS for entitled, narcissistic personalities. The ensuing relationships can stumble along for a LONG time, requiring huge amounts of effort and energy to keep up until finally they fall apart. When they do, you feel betrayed and abandoned (codependent's biggest fear).

Over a lifetime, we all develop defences, thoughts, beliefs, behaviours, and fears that keep us from living the life we want. These are limitations. And while at one time they had purpose, they have lost their usefulness in the present day. My job is to help you identify these limitations and guide and support you to transform them. We recognize the parts that have value, but change up the parts that are holding you back. Becoming aware of unwanted fears, beliefs, and thoughts that control our lives is an important step in changing the way we do things and how we see our world.

A warm welcome. I support individuals to compassionately make sense of the patterns that cause strained relationships, shame, self-doubt, anxiety, anger, depression, conflict, and emotional and nervous system dysregulation. I also work with couples to improve communication and understand and attend to their underlying needs in their relationship. While connecting with others is essential for our well-being, at times, it can feel so very hard to do. My intention in our work is to strengthen your ability to feel more inherently worthy and loveable through attunement and developing more flexible, secure and joyful relating.

For teens and adults alike, creating change can feel overwhelming. Through supportive, non-judgmental dialogue you can begin to better cope with the feelings, thoughts and behavior patterns associated with your life's challenges and heal from trauma. All sessions with myself or associates are safe, non judgmental and focused on your individual needs. With two decades of work in mental health services, no one single approach is right for everyone. Support is offered to teens, adults and their families by both myself and/or my associates. We offer some sliding scale options to make therapy more accessible for all.

How can I find a therapist in Toronto?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
