Welcome! My name is Marissa and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in the states of VA and D.C. (virtually). I am so glad that you started your journey to wellness. Therapist are not "one size fits all," and it's important to find the best fit for you along the way. My counseling style is client lead, supportive, yet firm. Working with children, teens, adults, I am intentional about building trust equity as the main component of the therapeutic relationship. I am intentional about creating brave spaces for people of color and the LGBTQI+ community.

The goal of every client who comes to treatment is to resolve the existing crisis or trauma, manage anxiety, reduce depressive and other symptoms, and return to a state of being that better reflects their optimal functioning. Clients who come to therapy are arguably the best suited to tell us what their needs are and where the gap exists between their needs and goals for their best life. Living with grief, loss, anxiety, PTSD, psych ache, relationship distress, trauma (including racial trauma), rejection, and mood disorders takes a toll, not only on everyday functioning but also on self-esteem, self-efficacy and self-care.

I have 19 years experience working with adults, children, adolescents and parents who present with a myriad of disorders. I provide individual/group outpatient psychotherapy services in the Tidewater area using a client centered perspective that focuses on my clients' strengths and goals. One of several specialties include anger management therapy for those who are court ordered and/or wish to learn ways to manage their anger. I am currently adding to my client base. I offer flexibility in scheduling sessions. I am an experienced and approved clinical supervisor seeking to add residents in counseling to my caseload as well.

Raisa Brownell, LCSW Mx. Raisa Brownell, LCSW Mx. Raisa Brownell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia who has been practicing since 2020. She has a Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University. Raisa provides person-centered interventions to increase the client’s sense of agency in achieving treatment goals using evidence-based practice (EBP).

If so, I can help. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in treating children and adolescents from age 5-18. I provide parent coaching and family/behavior interventions for families struggling with oppositional behaviors, and use a mix of CBT and play therapy to help children struggling with adjustment issues.

Enid Candelaria-Vega is a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor from Puerto Rico currently living in Virginia. Enid works with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal problems, and life changes. Her clinical experience includes over 15 years working across telehealth, short and long-term treatment, intensive in-home counseling, psychiatric hospitals, law enforcement, community-based settings, and multicultural communities. Enid has a bachelor's in Social Work from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico and a master's in both Mental Health Counseling and Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

The process of therapy is all about change and fulfilling one’s ultimate potential and purpose. My role as a counselor is to assist in the process of self-change and personal growth. Change can be scary and uncomfortable but is a natural part of the human experience and something that I attempt to make more comfortable in my counseling practice. In my practice I utilize a wide-range of evidenced based practices to assist patients with multiple presenting problems relating to depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse and alcohol concerns and additional mood disorders.

Sarah Rash is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 7 years of combined experience working in a variety of counseling venues. She has a passion for helping adults understand and navigate the challenges they face as a result of life circumstances or diagnoses to lead to more rewarding day-to-day lives. Sarah specializes in anxiety, depression, grief, coping skills education, self-esteem, some trauma work, and self-exploration/growth.

Sarah provides confidential and supportive services from a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach, focusing on the whole person, integrating the mind/body/spirit connection. She also teaches mindfulness practices to help bring compassion and presence to each moment. Other modalities Sarah utilizes are play therapy techniques, relational, positive psychology, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Sarah is passionate about helping others become more self-aware in order to practice greater self-acceptance and self-responsibility to lead more fulfilling, and meaningful lives.

Jenny Leigh Redlin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor (LMHC, LPC) with over 10 years of experience assisting adults who are struggling with trauma, shame, regret, difficult life transitions, low feelings of self-worth, anxiety, depression, or identity-related issues.

I have been in the counseling profession for over 20 years. In addition to my private practice work, I have provided services in an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) setting, taught as an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University, been a Program and Case Manager for a health clinic devoted to HIV/AIDS patients and their families, been a case manager in therapeutic foster care, and worked as a counselor for an adolescent group home. Through these experiences, I have come to appreciate the diverse histories that people bring with them when seeking therapy.
