Saving the world and helping people is what I’ve wanted to do since I was 13yrs old; and the first step was serving in the Navy. If you’re in search of a safe, therapeutic environment to discuss your thoughts, feelings and experiences I’d love to help you process and gain the tools needed to manage your mental health. My therapeutic style involves a collaborative approach that includes empathy, transparency, non-judgement and validation. I believe that each individual patient is an expert when it comes to themselves, and I work collaboratively with the patient adding my clinical knowledge.

I hold an M.A. in Human Services, Marriage and Family Counseling, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and am a Resident in Counseling. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. My counseling approach is tailored to each client's specific needs. I incorporate multicultural and creative arts with an eclectic approach to counseling to address each client's needs. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

My vision is to help you overcome the daily obstacles and challenges you are facing. We all go through storms in life and sometimes we need someone to help us get beyond those storms. The first step can be the most difficult, allow me to help you. I would like to empower you to reach your personal goals . My goal in treatment is to help you tap into your own strengths to reach those goals!

Takiya has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Old Dominion University. She received a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Takiya is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP), and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Takiya is a Registered Supervisor with the Virginia Board of Counseling for residents in LPC, LMFT, and CSAC.

As the parent of a struggling child or adolescent, you often find yourself wondering what you can do to help them feel better. I believe it is important to understand “What is happening to me” versus “What is wrong with me.” I have had the pleasure of working with clients ages 3 to 55 years old and their families. I am familiar with Court-ordered clients, children in the foster care system, victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence, as well as active duty service members, veterans, and their families.

Veteran-owned and operated, we seek to help Veterans, First Responders, their Families, and children impacted by traumatic events. We provide specialized individual and group therapy, and provide therapy for a wide range of children, adolescent, and adult clients. We welcome those who are struggling with life issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, coping, gender identity, mood disorders, relationship issues, sexuality, and addictions. We believe that the situations we experience impact us, but do not define us. Our clinicians are trained to help you reach your full potential and overcome difficult situations.

You, your family, and your children matter to many people. Sometimes in our lives, it’s remarkable the happenings that we can't comprehend. This is why counseling can help anyone and everyone get a better understanding of their situation by receiving the correct type of treatment in order to move on with their lives. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). I recognize that each of us have a unique set of strengths, as well as unique challenges. Sometimes it is helpful to get an outsider’s perspective and assistance to help us navigate life’s challenges and to assist us in steering our life in the desired direction. That’s where I come in! I provide collaborative therapy, in which we use your values and desires to develop a plan towards a more balanced, pleasant life!

MySpectrum is an outpatient therapy practice located at 707 North Courthouse Road in North Chesterfield, Virginia. We offer outpatient counseling and coaching to any person, on any spectrum. We focus on the Autism Spectrum, Mental Health Spectrum, Substance Use Spectrum, and the Whole Life Spectrum. Our philosophy is that any person, regardless of situation, should have access to skilled Therapists who will truly meet you where you are at in your journey.
