Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) has been called "The Doubting Disease," and is characterized by unwanted and intrusive doubts, fears, “irrational” worries, and at its worst, terror and psychological torment. People with OCD experience doubts and fears which usually focus on whatever they most care about or highly value, such as their most important relationships, their moral character, their health or the health and well-being of those they care about. Sufferers use mental or behavioral rituals that provide temporary relief from the obsession, which become compulsions that can be painful in and of themselves.

Some treatments I specialize in are: diagnosing and management of ADHD, exposure-response prevention (ERP) for OCD, CBT for anxiety and depression, and FBT for anorexia.
Limited after-school availability! - My passion is working with adolescents, families and adults who are looking to learn new skills to use in their lives. We'd be a good fit if you're looking for someone who teaches skills and strategies to use when encountering difficulties. Often people will encounter times where they struggle and don't have the skills to manage current stressors or problem. I’m here to offer you support and techniques that have shown to be effective in helping with these problems. Working with me involves learning more about what makes situations difficult (what's the specific problem) and applying new skills.

I am most passionate about supporting people living with Anxiety disorders, OCD, Phobias, Parenting Issues & Trauma.
Starting therapy for the first time, or with someone new, can bring feelings of vulnerability. There’s no right or wrong way to start, or reasons needed to begin. I believe all people can benefit from therapy. After all, being a human is hard enough. With me, the process of coming to therapy is made simple through co-creating safety and trust. I provide space where people can be human, share their truth, explore identities + practice new learning. I’m accepting clients ages 5+ for in-person and ages 13+ for telehealth/in-person. Clients under 13 unable to do in-person are encouraged to start parent sessions with me to foster change.

While these are the things I am most passionate about I also enjoy and have experience working with depression, anxiety, and OCD.
Are you currently in a relationship where you're not happy but can't seem to get yourself to leave? Maybe you feel emotionally stuck or confused and have tried leaving only to return to the same unhappy relationship where nothing seems to change. On the other hand, you might feel that you keep entering into relationships in which you are treated poorly but can't figure out why. Perhaps you're dating and finding "the one" seems impossible. You feel sad and disappointed, no one seems to understand, and you don't know what else to do to make things better. I'm here to tell you that things can change and I am here to help!

Not only limited to the anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, ADHD/ADD, OCD, anger issues, and personality disorders or attachment issues.
A responsible social practitioner, I provide psychological care, and services using American Sign Language (ASL). I work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including various populations that encompass sign language users. My interests center on developing tailored, specific psychotherapy applications that benefit the patients with hearing losses. Much of my work places an emphasis on the importance of "courageous will" to empower individuals to make choices that are useful and practical.

I provide individual therapy to adults and specialize in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and other Anxiety Disorders.
Why can’t I just be happy? Why is everything so difficult? Is life just endless suffering? Most of us are trying to rid ourselves of our anxiety by avoiding frightening situations and shielding ourselves from uncomfortable experiences. In doing so, our existence often becomes narrow and tedious. But what if we could learn to make room for the inevitable pains that life confronts us with and accept the experiences we cannot control. If we can become more psychologically flexible, we can then be present and do what matters most to us.

Are obsessive thoughts or fears holding you back? Do your days feel either out of control or stagnant? Allow me to walk alongside you as we tackle these normal, yet frustrating feelings. Intrusive thoughts may tell you otherwise, but you are strong enough to quiet them. I know this, because you have already taken the first step by being interested in therapy. I often use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and mainly see individuals, however, we have providers on staff who see couples, kids, and families.

Teletherapy for anxiety, panic, OCD, and selective mutism - You feel like you can’t get out of your head. You try to distract yourself, but the “what if” worries won’t stop. You ask your friends and family if the worries are “logical”, and then realize you are asking the same question over and over again. Maybe you’re experiencing feelings of panic or other anxiety that stops you from being able to do the things you want to. You want to be more social, but you go blank when you are in a new situation. You can't stop putting pressure on yourself to be "productive" which often leads to more worries.

Symptoms of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD or ADHD can make life miserable by holding you back from being the person you want to be and living the life you want to live.
Accepting new clients. "While we all move through similar spectrums of emotions and experience similar battles with attachment and old patterns, we all have unique conditioning that sets us apart from each other. No two people have traveled the same journey. And we each have our own emotional history that we have to traverse when we start our healing. Since each individual has their own conditioning, how one person heals is not how all people heal." (Yung Pueblo, Lighter 2022) As a therapist, I hope to create and hold a place where clients can feel safe to do the work they desire to move closer to the life they would like to live.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
