I enjoy working with adults and teens who are feeling "stuck" in their lives. This feeling can show up as anxiety or depression, control issues, anger, self-harm, or grief and sadness. There are good reasons why you feel the way you do. We all develop coping mechanisms to deal with the stresses in our lives, but these mechanisms often outlive their usefulness to us. I will work with you to gently identify and let go of what is holding you back from feeling present and connected to yourself and others. I dedicate a portion of my practice specifically to high achievers who struggle with perfectionism and intense self-criticism.
Do you find yourself feeling stuck in the same cycles and patterns? Are you wishing for momentum and movement in your life but find yourself unable to let go of old stories, feelings, and thoughts? Maybe you are unsure of where to start but know that the way things are, is not how you want them to be. Often times our lives can become dictated by past wounds and, coping with the feelings that arise from these moments, can be difficult. Healing from the past and staying present in the now is possible, and you do not have to do it alone.
Has life left you disappointed? My desire is to empower you to live the healthy and content life you dream of despite the disappointments you are facing. I employ a warm, empathic, and holistic approach with my clients. My counseling methods include Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in order to resolve issues in the family context, and recognize unhealthy thinking patterns. I seek to tap into my clients’ strengths while equipping them for change. My general practice areas include working with women, students, and couples. I specialize in relationship issues, depression, self-esteem, anxiety, and sexual abuse.
It can be overwhelming when you're feeling down and can't see a way up. Few things are worse than feeling stuck and struggling when it seems like everyone else has it all figured out. Life is complex and it's often hard to handle the situations we face each day. You have the right to heal and find hope! No matter what the challenges or life transitions you are currently facing, no one should have to go through it alone. I'd like to support you with the care, compassion, and empathy you deserve.
I work with adults & adolescents who feel overwhelmed, have relationship challenges, or are struggling to move forward after a painful life event/trauma. When we avoid facing distressing emotions/experiences, it can create more chaos in our lives leading to feelings of hopelessness and more pain. In therapy, we will explore how your past experiences are impacting your present and potentially inhibiting you from the personal growth you strive for. You will learn ways to share your emotions/needs, develop healthy ways to cope with life’s challenges and improve your overall well-being.
I work with teenagers and young adults because I think it is a really important period to develop identity, values and outlook. I appreciate being to explore life, friends, family, self image, systemic issues, mental health and anything else with my clients.
There are many reasons why someone starts to look for a therapist. In addition to alleviating the symptoms of uncomfortable emotions and pain, there is a great opportunity for healing and personal growth. I specialize in helping my clients to regain confidence in their ability to manage overwhelming emotions and to work through personal, family, and career challenges. My clinical area of expertise is treating anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.
The journey to mold yourself to what society thinks is beautiful, fit, and healthy has wasted so much time, energy, and money. Despite being hard-working, dedicated, and ambitious, each attempt ends up the same: Feeling like a failure every time you don’t hit your goal weight or gain it back, berating yourself for not having the will-power to change your body, and being shamed by doctors, other health care providers, your family, your friends, and complete strangers. You’re tired, frustrated, sad, angry…and completely defeated. You deserve to live your life without guilt, shame, deprivation, and judgment!
I am passionate about social justice and equity issues affecting historically disadvantaged groups. I work with individuals and families, to help promote self-preservation strategies for helping professionals experiencing aggressions, burnout, and compassion fatigue. In our therapeutic partnership, we will focus on identifying how you can have optimal experiences of nourishment, celebration and healing, to help you acknowledge and center the unheard voices of emotions triggered by trauma, stress, and oppression.
Do you feel stuck? Stressed out? Are you confused about a relationship? Are you repeating the same destructive behavior you promised yourself that you would stop? You are not alone. To have problems means that you are human; but there is hope. Counseling can help you uncover the reasons for your troubles and help you learn to live in ways that are healthier, more productive and more fun. If you would like to become more of the person you want to be, call or email me to set up a consultation.
For many years I struggled with shame and doubt about who I was, often feeling lost and hopeless. I would exercise my feelings through control or passivity in relations with others. It wasn't until I received help from a counselor that I started my journey of healing that lead to my discovery of an authentic self who could practice healthy relationships, acceptance, love, and feel worthy from the inside out. At that point I chose to become a Counselor so as to assist others in their journeys of self discovery.
I am based in WA State (Pacific Standard Time). I am licensed in Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Virginia. I work with clients who are struggling with behavioral addictions: codependency, sexual addiction, among other conditions. I work with my clients individually to assess their needs, identify goals, and develop a plan to address their concerns. Welcome to my virtual office.
Counseling can offer an understanding of the behaviors, beliefs and emotions that fuel our daily interactions with families and other people. Therapy is a process. My job is to facilitate you through possible change options. It is my goal to work with you closely during therapy to aid in clarifying your goals for treatment, explore patterns and choices of communication, relationships, life style and foster development of beneficial coping strategies with commitment on both parts during therapy. The main goal is to explore patterns of behavior, thoughts, and actions to foster positive change and personal growth.
Life is unpredictable with many ups and downs. No matter how much we want life to move in a linear fashion it often goes unplanned causing us to feel off balance. I believe therapy is a safe place to begin your own personal journey and learning to be present in your life. It allows you to rediscover who you are. Therapy is different for every individual and/or couple. I have an EMDR, existential & integrative approach to helping clients create healthy, fulfilling and rewarding lives. I integrate therapeutic styles depending on the best fit for client and situation.
My focus is working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or post traumatic stress and have not found success with conventional counseling practices. I focus on holistic care providing neuromodulation to identify and treat imbalances in the brain that are caused from long term stress. When the body is able to move from a fight, flight, or freeze state is it easier to apply skills you have been trying so hard to achieve. I believe you do not have to learn coping strategies to manage symptoms but that symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma can be healed.
These are trying times and therapy can help you navigate them. My background includes work with those who have either hit the wall or whose lives have abruptly changed. If you feel stuck or anxious and want to change the direction of your life, I can help. If you need help identifying your next steps, I'm here for that too. If your symptoms of anxiety, depression or confusion are making your life miserable, we can work to bring you back into balance. If you are repeating old patterns over and over, we can fix that. If you feel like you lost yourself somewhere along the line, we can find you; just reach out and take the risk.
Individuals, couples and families are all seen as my ideal client. I typically see clients from the ages of 13 and up, but I do make some exceptions. Clients who are having difficulties with communicating their emotions, identifying their strengths and their core self, or having dysfunctional dyadic or family patterns are clients who I know I can help. Clients coming regularly and genuinely working with me to accomplish the goals we set out at the beginning of therapy are ideal. If you want to better yourself in any way, shape or form, I will be the person who will try my best to help you become the better self you aspire to be.
Psychotherapy provides a safe place to discuss fears, thoughts, and difficult decisions we as humans must make during our journey in life. I believe we are capable of making life changes with the right tools. I am here to listen without judgement. I believe we all have a story to share. Being heard is one of the most important aspects of communication.
Life can sometimes make us feel stuck. We are stuck in jobs we don't love, relationships that aren't fulfilling us... I work to help you assess your goals and help you to figure out how to accomplish them. I have a special interest in dating coaching, specifically helping clients to identify barriers in their relationships.
I work with children, teens, and adults on an individual and family therapy level. My holistic approach helps you recapture your personal power by building upon your strengths, establishing goals, and examining values. I believe in your inherent capacity for growth, healing, and change. I can help you build upon skills and discover how to adapt and thrive. I create a safe and welcoming place for this to occur.
