My mission is to provide inclusive therapy to folks through a trauma-informed, anti-white supremacy, queer-affirming, non-pathologizing, and strengths-based lens. I bring a feminist-infused perspective to my psychotherapy practice, which centers on non-judgmental listening, collaborative discourse, and behaviorally specific interventions.

Afternoon Openings: Being a person of color who is part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community can feel isolating and lonely. Many individuals who hold these intersectional identities also have experiences of trauma, and this combined can make connection – with yourself, with others, with creativity & purposeful work extremely hard. Existing in this intersection – and feeling as though your values are misaligned with capitalist, patriarchal systems – is not easy. Finding a therapist that understands your experience is even harder. You want true healing and transformation, you just need to find the right support to get started or go deeper.

Have you been trying to build intimate connections with your partner/s but your chronic illness is making it difficult? Do you feel like you don’t have the words to communicate what you’re experiencing with the people in your life? This can be anxiety provoking and is common with people trying to navigate life after an acquired invisible disability. Unfortunately, avoiding the issue can cause resentment which can lead to long-term problems. This is where an empathic and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship can help develop the tools needed to have intimate conversations and self-reflect what you need.

We all go through difficult times in our lives and at times we are able to overcome the challenges on our own, other times it is helpful to seek support through therapy to help acquire new skills to help us live the life we hope for ourselves. As your therapist, I’m committed to support you and walk with you through this journey to accomplish your goals.

I have a passion for supporting people moving to the US from other countries/cultures. I understand that acclimating to a new environment can be stressful personally and professionally. I am passionate about supporting BIPOC populations. I understand how systemic oppression has affected BIPOC folks in this country, and how it can effect someone’s self esteem and sense of safety. I am able to hold these stories with compassion. I identify as a Mexican American woman. I have the lived experience of navigating different cultures at home and outside the home. I enjoy working with folks who have the similar experiences.

My outlook as a queer, nonbinary, polyamorous, kinky therapist is simple: you shouldn't have to lead the way into an unknown place and take your therapist on a rainbow safari at the same time. I know how hard it can be to find affirming, competent, and culturally sensitive therapists who understand basic polyamory terms, how kink culture is grounded in consent and mutuality, what transition is like medically or socially beyond the common stereotypes and so on. At the same time, many therapists assume every issue that comes up has to do with your identities, even in completely unrelated circumstances! We don't do that here.

I enjoy working with teens, adults, couples and families, and I believe in the healing power of relationships: no matter the wounds, if all parties are willing to heal, I will help. In today’s changing environment, we are often disconnected and fragmented; this can be seen and felt on both micro and macro levels, contributing to high levels of stress and anxiety. I am fiercely committed to restoring essential connections in our relationships with one another, our environment and mother earth. One of my primary goals is helping others achieve optimal performance in personal, relational, and professional areas of one’s life.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, using a variety of methods to encourage change and growth. I understand it can be difficult to build trust and talk to a stranger about past or current traumas, stresses, and worries. I will make every effort to create a safe space to work through those events and issues, while providing support. It is always an honor for me to witness change, to be a part of growth and to see my clients thrive and find more of themselves.

Seeking a counselor can be a scary thing. Not only does it mean asking for help, it also involves intentionally confronting our personal demons, whether in our environment, our family, or even within ourselves. I want you to know that you are not alone in that fight. I work from a client-centered and strengths-based lens, offering clients a space of acceptance and freedom in which they can express their emotions openly, discover their best qualities, and experience personal growth.
