I believe that emotional symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, are ways that our bodies and minds communicate with us. Through really listening and being present with you, I will help you explore these messages, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and heal old wounds. This process is profound in creating change, allowing you to experience more peace within yourself, live with more passion and presence, and improve the quality of your relationships. I am a licensed psychologist with a doctorate in clinical psychology. I have experience working with individuals of all ages who are seeking to live more full and engaged lives.
I am an LICSW new to the Burlington area, currently working at Otter Creek Associates. My current practice draws from a wide range of modalities including CBT, ACT and mindfulness/experiential based approaches to help children, adults, seniors and families address a wide variety of problems and symptoms. This includes, but is not limited to treatment of PTSD, Anxiety/Stress, Relationship struggles and Depression. I also am an EMDR trained therapist and utilize this evidence based approach when assisting clients with achieving adaptive resolution to previous traumatic circumstances/events.
I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship continues to prove to be the most effective factor in creating change in therapy. Through the therapeutic relationship individuals and families create the opportunity to develop a greater level of understanding and acceptance of themselves and others. They then can develop new opportunities for more positive and fulfilling meaning in their lives.
Accepting new clients.* I see that everyone is innately whole. We are born into a societal narrative that we are separate and are conditioned into our cultural dream state. This imprisons our minds into a certain way of thinking. As we see in our society, this thinking creates conflict and division within ourselves and with others. Do you want to wake up and break free of the conditions of the mind? Are you willing to question and dig underneath, to discover the quiet essence within? No matter your age, I would love to be your guide upon your journey of letting go, waking up and living in joy, not sorrow.
I meet you wherever you are in your journey toward recovery and peace of mind. Whether you have only just started thinking about making changes, are ready to dive in and do whatever it takes to make lasting change or have completed higher levels of care and are in need of aftercare to maintain sobriety, I'm here to partner with you in your journey in a stigma-free, non-judgmental treatment environment. I have more than 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings, with nearly 15 years focused on the treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders.
I seek to help children, teens, and adults in need of positive support or whom may be struggling with behavior support questions, attention deficit, depression, anxiety, goal development, and family relational problems. I support personal goal coaching and provide a safe environment for exploration in a number of many other areas. I seek to bring elements of joy, comfort, and safety to the personal process of healing.
Life presents challenges that are difficult to move through alone. Together we can explore the thoughts, behaviors, and experiences that strengthen you and those that may be in your way. Through this exploration, our work may focus on deepening self-compassion, healing from painful experiences, improving personal relationships, taking on challenges, or harnessing power for positive change.
I see clients from age 16 thru life. As a nurse, I use a holistic approach employing a variety of techniques and tools including hypnosis, Spiritual guidance, aromatherapy, nutritional counseling and energy healing. I am also an addictions specialist and work with recovering adults. A full description of my specialties is on my website including relationship, life transitions, women's issues and life crises.
Overcome anxiety, depression, addictions, relational or other behavioral patterns that make it difficult to cope with life and create low self esteem or conflict. Recover your true self.
My practice is tailored to respect each individual's needs in therapy. In our work together we will use mind-body and expressive arts therapies, particularly Dance/Movement Therapy, to build on your strengths and develop effective life skills. Dance/Movement Therapy is the use of dance and other forms of body movement in psychotherapy to further healing and growth by stimulating insight into and changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
What a divine and complex person you are; both stunningly unique and profoundly woven in relationship to all others. For you, I offer the healing arts, which can be playful and light-hearted while being equally capable of offering safe passage through some of the richest, or most difficult experiences in our lives. Some for which, we can be left without words. May you then instead be drawn in, danced out, courted, felt, and moved. May the song of your life be sung in chorus, and the beat of your heart danced with wild surrender.
My areas of specialty include help with trauma, anxiety, stress, anger, depression, self-judgement, relationships and addictions.
I believe that the primary responsibility of a therapist is to connect deeply with clients and to help them to find and cultivate their own innate goodness and potential.
My approach to counseling and psychotherapy rests on a solid foundation of providing empathic attunement, acceptance, insight and supportive responsiveness.
I help people to experience themselves in a way that empowers them with increased skill and confidence in living.
I teach a calm clarity that aids any kind of personal or interpersonal problem resolution.
I have had over 20 years of experience in private practice treating children, adults, families and couples in a rural area. I am well-versed in common issues such as adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety, childhood trauma and substance abuse and recovery.
My clients seek help with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma and sexual abuse. They want help in telling their story, being genuinely heard and understood and given ideas about how to change established patterns toward a more healthy and satisfying life.
I assist and support individuals and couples to live from the deepest places, to make meaning in their lives, and to improve functioning within self, and between self and others. I offer possibility.
I have been in the private practice of psychotherapy since 1977. Clients sometimes come to me when therapy with other therapists has not worked. I am willing to go as deeply as you are within the safety of clear ethical boundaries.
I value difference and work to hold and accept and work with differences, whether they be personal, sexual, racial or cultural.
This is a very stressful time. My intention as a therapist is to offer a safe, welcoming opportunity for you to explore your challenges, difficulties and hopes. Together we will look at your concerns and how to manage them. We can explore your views of yourself and your life, the meanings you have given things, and other options you might consider. We can develop and practice new skills, and help you move toward greater peace, both within, and in your daily life. We will identify and clarify your personal strengths, resources and sources of inspiration to draw upon during this difficult time, as well as for the future.
Life is full of challenge, hardship, transition, and unknown. Together we create a space for you to explore and address the challenges in your life; space where you can be seen, heard, and take a breath. In life, change and healing are possible. You can change your habits, ways of being, patterns, moods, thoughts, and you can heal. Using mindfulness and trauma informed practices that focus on a body mind perspective I will assist you in realizing the changes you want to make in life so you can begin taking the steps toward safe healing. I use Brainspotting to address traumatic experiences, PTSD, and other unresolved life incidents.
*Unfortunately, I am not accepting new clients at this time* Welcome! I aim to create an accepting and safe environment where we can collaborate to work towards your goals and overcome your challenges. I have a background working with LGBTQ+ clients, clients who are insecurely housed or homeless, and clients with mood and anxiety disorders. My focus is on work with clients facing ADHD, identity development issues, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
As a psychosynthesis trained counselor, my work with clients emphasizes and supports a process of self discovery, healing and personal fulfillment. Psychosynthesis offers specific methods and tools to help a person overcome obstacles, attune to their own inner voice, and move towards a greater sense of purpose and meaning.
