Therapists Beginning With J in Vermont
I specialize in helping people overcome complex and “difficult-to-treat” problems. Clients often come to therapy feeling "stuck" and wanting more freedom in their choices. I work with clients to help identify and bring light to the strategies that we often use to avoid our feelings and keep us locked in patterns we want to shift.

I really appreciate clients who are willing to look at themselves and are brave enough to ask for help. Asking for help shows a desire to understand themselves on a deeper more spiritual level. I work with people going through transitions in life ages 4-94. It doesn't matter the age, it is the heart behind the age that counts. I work with individuals, family, couples, and those working on addictions issues that are facing crossroads in their life. Therapy gives hope and renewed vision and allows support to those facing the fear of change.

I hope to facilitate a space that helps you grow your connection to yourself, to your values, and to the people and communities who matter most to you. I find there are lots of things that try to get in the way of these connections. I believe it is my role to keep our conversations focused on what's truly important to you and the steps you have taken, and want to continue to take, to get closer to it. Sometimes, that might look like documenting our conversations through writing or drawing. Always, we will check in to make sure that we're moving towards where you want to be going.

Feeling stuck? Struggling to set a boundary? Goals, successes, and happiness are often guided and, occasionally hindered, by the situations we find ourselves in. Traumatic events, interpersonal struggles, and difficult environments can make it challenging to walk our own path and to reach our potential. In these times of hardship it is important to find direction and to develop safety and a strong sense of self. It is with this strength we can make plans for positive changes in the future.

As human beings, we experience freedom through our capacity for choice, as well as inner and outer limitations. How can we expand what is possible for us in the face of suffering? I first became intrigued with this question as a freshman in college in stumbling upon Victor Frankl's account of those whose spirits survived in the midst of the concentration camps: "...everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." (Man's Search for Meaning). I work with clients to find ways of living that expand this inner freedom.

You sit across from your husband at the dinner table, eating in silence. He’s just a few feet from you, but feels miles away. Things weren’t always like this. The two of you used to connect deeply with one another. Friends would joke that you two shared your own language. Now, it seems like you’ve both forgotten how to communicate without it turning into a fight. You look for help from advice columns and social media relationship coaches, but every attempt to repair things seems to push him further away. Neither of you is ready to give up on this relationship, but you’re unsure how to save it. You wonder if it’s already too late.

I'm a firm believer that everyone has the internal resources to live an authentic and fulfilling life. At times, certain experiences can make it difficult to access those strengths, or we may find that the coping strategies that once helped us no longer serve us in the same way. My goal is to offer a therapeutic space that is safe, nonjudgmental, and grounded in compassion—one where you can explore your story with insight and intention.

We each have an authentic self, and things we know to be deeply true about our hearts, minds, identities and lives. I believe that no matter how confused we may feel, we can all find our way back to what is unique, creative and courageous in ourselves. These are wild times. There is nothing maladjusted about feeling anxious or depressed in a world that does not feel equitable or safe. My goal is not to help you adjust to broken things; it is to build upon the strengths of your identity, your values and your truth, and to hold space for all of the parts of you that need to be heard and seen.

You LOVE your therapist, but there's an elephant in the room: neurodivergence. The new information on masked Autism and ADHD keeps catching your attention, but when you brought it up with your therapist the conversation didn’t go anywhere. You know if you understood that piece of things it would make all the difference.
I know how important it is to understand your Autism and ADHD, and to differentiate them from the effects of the trauma you've experienced.
