The therapy process is personal in nature, therefore, I believe that it is very important for anyone who is seeking therapy find the right therapist for them. In my practice I rely on several theoretical approaches such as: interpersonal psychology, psychodynamics, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems. My eclectic approach develops a comprehensive and personal approach built on my premise: how we feel, think, and act is because of genetics, upbringing, and life experiences.
**Not currently taking new clients.** I strive to create a safe and warm environment where people can feel heard and understood, and I work to find a balance between supporting and accepting people as they are, while challenging them to step out of their comfort zone to make the changes they desire for a better life. I believe that relationships can be an important part of the healing process, whether these are with friends and family or the therapeutic relationship built in sessions. I believe in taking a collaborative approach, utilizing the strengths and insights of each person.

The initial process of looking for a therapist can be overwhelming, but it is also a great and exciting opportunity for a new beginning. My approach is warm, accepting, empathetic and client-centered. Of great interest to me is the topic of fitting into life as it is today, whether you are from another state, another country, or see yourself outside the mainstream of your family or workplace. I work with diverse populations, adolescents, adults, and couples.
*Not accepting new clients & no waitlist* I’m a relational therapist who provides individual therapy to adolescents and adults and couples therapy to couples at any stage, who adhere to any relationship configuration. I believe suffering and pain stem from disconnection and my hope is to help reconnect you with what’s most meaningful in your life. I will develop a trusting therapeutic connection with you, assist you in identifying past experiences, beliefs, & behavioral patterns that contribute to disconnection in your life, and collaborate with you to take steps towards creating and deepening connection with yourself and others.
I work well with individuals who desire to better understand themselves, and how their experiences impact their thoughts, beliefs and actions. Folks whom want to find their voice, and place in this world, as well as better manage the struggles they face.
The struggle is real! As a licensed professional clinical counselor, I work with children/teens and adults individually, and strive to provide my clients a safe, open space where they can feel at ease to begin the therapeutic process. I aim to meet all my clients where they are at & provide unconditional positive regard for each unique experience that is brought to the table. Seeking out help is a sign of strength, & I work with my clients to develop healthy strategies to manage the challenges they are faced with. With a laid-back eclectic approach, I help my clients regain their sense of power over their lives.
I am passionate about meeting people right where they are emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Many clients who felt anxious about beginning therapy have expressed how quickly they felt comfortable with me. I consider it a great privilege to work with individuals and families during formative years of growth and transition. My goal is to provide a safe environment that is both supportive and challenging.
Welcome! As you begin your search for a therapist, please remember to put yourself first and trust that you are worth it! Sometimes it can be easy to bypass ourselves and continue to put others first only to find emptiness staring back at us in the mirror. Let’s work together to find out who you really are and start “showing up” for yourself like you do others. Let’s build confidence and motivation to meet your goals and finally feel at peace in life again. One step at a time remembering that you are not alone in this journey.
Each stage of our lives brings its own challenges. And if our lives so far haven’t been particularly rosy… experiences from our pasts can make our emotions overwhelming and unpredictable, and we can feel out of control. They can keep us from forming close and healthy relationships, leaving us isolated and alone. I provide individual therapy for adolescents and adults who have experienced adversity in their lives. I provide treatment for traumas and stressors that we sometimes experience growing up including household dysfunction, emotional and physical neglect, abuse, and generational trauma.
People all have their own reasons for starting therapy. Some come with a specific issue they want to address, others come with only a vague sense that part of their life is in a slump. In either case, therapy can help them find their path forward whether through transformative changes or small adjustments.
The main issues, needs & goals of clients, in general, are to reduce distress & increase functioning; however, people’s issues, needs & goals vary & the main work for this therapist is to help them work out these matters, gain clarity on them, by correcting cognitive distortions & processing emotions, developing plans to attain goals, & using insights that emerge from present observations & reflections. This writer draws from psycho-analysis, CBT, existential, motivational interviewing to do therapy. This therapist uses valid & reliable assessments to monitor treatment response & effectiveness in view of the client goals & needs
I am a Licensed Psychologist and hold a masters and doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. My experience is diverse and includes psychotherapy and psychological assessment with adults, adolescents and couples.
From the outside, people see you holding it together and just doing life, but on the inside you’re feeling a wreck. Your inner critic is fierce and all the emotions and thoughts you’ve worked so hard to contain are forcing their way to the surface in new and weird ways. What might have worked before (insert your go-to coping strategy) just isn’t working anymore and it’s leaving you feeling out of control. Instead of containing these uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, you’re feeling maybe it's time to learn to work with them.
Many come to therapy knowing only that they are struggling to get things done, their relationships have become a source of stress rather than comfort, or they need help processing trauma, loss, or other painful experiences impacting their daily lives. Whatever your circumstances, I strive to help each person or family I work with achieve greater emotional, psychological, and social well-being, while also alleviating symptoms. I use the power of storytelling and understand that each person I work with has many, important stories to tell. I also value and work with each person's nervous system in the healing process.
Each of us lives a unique and complex life, populated with our own ambitions, friends, routines, fears, and inherited craziness. Our lives create an epic story that continues invisibly around you with elaborate and meaningful experiences. At times we can feel stuck, unhappy, or even lost. Each time we consciously work with our pain, we are working towards a more nuanced understanding of ourselves -- an understanding that is less binary and more inclusive of our humanity.
Are you not living your life the way you would like to? Is your interpersonal life not what you'd like it to be? Are you unsatisfied in your partner relationship in particular? I believe I can help. As an individual therapist, my goal is to create a safe, trusting, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment in which we can engage in a process of collaborative reflection aimed at helping you become more connected with all parts of your self. In this process, we can work together to understand how and why you relate as you do with yourself and others.

I enjoy meeting with clients who are looking to address various symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life changes, relationships, and more. Clients I see most often are people who are tired of feeling how they have been feeling/living and are ready to take steps to make changes to achieve their goals and the life that they wish for. In general, I aim to let clients set their own goals and then we work together to get them to the place that they want to be. I take a very collaborative approach with my clients.
Life can be hard - you don’t have to struggle alone! The decision to be open to begin therapy is a major step forward. If you're experiencing low self confidence, doubt, anxiety, shame, or stress, there is a path to help you create a more fulfilling life in the present. I provide a safe nonjudgmental space where you can feel supported, and empowered as you go on this journey.
During this time of coronavirus, I am available to meet with clients via telemedicine. All of us are experiencing changes at multiple levels during this time. If you would like someone to listen to your experience and to help you make plans for how to manage the changes and the impact, please reach out and let's talk about whether working together might make the journey a little easier. I enjoy working with clients who have a goal in mind, something they would like to work on in therapy that will result in a change for them, and who work on things throughout the week, not just in the session.
I do what I do because I want to help those who have not had the ability to talk to someone who does not judge them and does not impose society’s expectations on them, people who feel lost and don’t know where else to turn. I want to show my community and others who are struggling, therapy can be a sign of strength, not shame. I have learned how to hold space as vulnerable moments arise and how to help others develop those skills. I find fulfillment in helping individuals make progress and learn to develop their unique path to healing and personal growth.
