CASE LOAD CURRENTLY FULL Most clients come to me by word-of-mouth referrals, but I periodically take on new clients if they are a good fit. My client base is roughly 70% female-identifying and 30% male-identifying, and I respect each client's journey in an allied way. While I have a broad range of experience working with people across the lifespan, what I most enjoy is working with high-achieving adults in the first half of life. I view therapy as an opportunity to grow and evolve, while also mastering the ability to be fully present, whether you are looking for your calling, embodying your identity, or preparing for your next step.
Working with clients from ethnic minority groups is my passion; especially Brazilians, Latinos and Native Americans. Having experienced being an immigrant myself while living in Brazil, I am very aware of the unique difficulties facing newly arrived immigrants. Individuals needing assistance with school difficulties, parenting concerns, family conflict, marital discord, or functionally impairing mental health symptoms are my ideal client.
Emotions are a key component in my work with clients. I specialize in working with clients who may describe themselves as sensitive, misunderstood, feeling-oriented or in emotional pain. With that said, I do not believe there is such a thing as an “ideal client”. It is my goal and my job to be present and supportive for any client who seeks to engage in therapeutic work. If you feel stuck or unsure of where to go next, and identify having mental health concerns and want help, I am here for you.
Everyone goes through challenging situations in life and while you may have successfully worked through other difficulties, sometimes we need extra support and a new perspective. I provide a compassionate and nurturing space with a nonjudgmental and relaxed environment to help promote change. We will work together to understand your concerns and develop a fresh perspective along with effective coping skills, solutions, and strategies for living healthier and happier. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to explore where you are emotionally, where you want to be, and help guide you to reach your goals.

I feel honored to work with people who are deeply examining the relationship they have to themselves and to the world. The therapy I offer is an exploration of what blocks aliveness and an awake, open, compassionate heart. If you are at a point in your life where you need some help navigating through a particular quality of being or a habit adversely affecting you or people in your life, I can help. Working together we can restore your functioning and bring it to a higher level allowing you to creatively respond to your life rather than react.
Is “people pleasing” a way you have learned how to avoid conflict at work & in your relationships? Are relationships and intimacy with others overwhelming at times in part out of fear of “rejection” and/or “abandonment”? Is the negative core belief “I'm not good enough” a theme that frequently shows up in your life & is a source of pain? Are you seeking to understand and cultivate a more nurturing relationship with your body, body image, and relationship with food? Are you wanting to explore the impact of your adoption experience including the trauma of separation & loss inherent in adoption? Does self doubt impair decision-making?
I am a clinical social worker with an integrative and holistic approach to psychotherapy. My therapy practice is rooted in mindfulness, CBT and DBT approaches, EMDR, and contemporary Psychodynamic therapy. I also draw from the mind-body connection, spirituality, social/cultural influences, neuroscience, and compassion. My background is in social work, which gives me a social justice lens and awareness of how societal factors like inequality and discrimination can affect mental health. I also provide psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy/Ketamine assisted psychotherapy at the Institute for Integrative Therapies in St. Paul, MN.
I believe that life can become overwhelming at times but that change is obtainable. I work in a collaborative format to help clients work towards improving daily life. I work with clients on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, marital discord, and child behavioral issues.

Image. Your mind is racing. All. The. Damn. Time. Your to-do list is a collection of post-it notes covering your table and you don't know where to start. You go about your day and all the sudden your heart is pounding, hands shaking, breathing is heavy, you have no idea why you feel this way, but it's confusing and you're losing control. Your internal voice is relentlessly mean and makes you feel like you'll never be "Normal." Sleep what's that? The struggle of being "enough" is real and the weight of your past is dragging you down. You're exhausted, nobody is listening and you feel alone is this fight against your own mind.
How can you create the life you want to live? Are you ready to do the work to get you closer to a fulfilling and authentic life? My guiding principle is viewing you as a relational being and creating insight into how you show up in your relationships. Relationships are where our “stuff” gets activated, and also the space where we can heal. A common theme I reference is "two sides of the same coin”: understanding how our qualities help us succeed at times yet hinder at others. It can be life changing to discern when to rely on and lean into these qualities versus when to pull back and practice new ways of being.
Therapy is a process that can be challenging and at times hard, yet an exciting journey to be embraced. I believe in mindfulness, sincerity, honesty, and that people are inherently strong and have many of their own internal answers. Therapy is a partnership that encompasses a growth process that provides knowledge and tools to life's amazing roadmap. I work with clients to develop a collaborative approach to address concerns to meeting personal goals and the potential they believe in. I am passionate about my work and have deep respect for the clients I work with and the risks they take.
I switched from school counseling to working as a therapist when I realized that more time was needed directly with my students. I have a laid back style and can work quickly or slowly, whatever works for you. I love to watch my clients grow and have those “lightbulb moments” to help with independence and success. I love to work with children, adolescents, or adults-anyone who has struggled with chemicals, is in recovery or a family/close friend of anyone struggling. I also work with clients who are pursuing change after grief. Change and grief are hard, and I am happy to help.
My formal education and clinical training happened later in life. But my experience in youth and individual counseling began over 12 years ago. My position as a mother, grandmother and wife gives me a perspective of over 32 years of life experience and empathy. My natural inclination to simply embrace, enjoy, and accept people without judgment, has prepared and enabled me to open of avenues of connection with a diverse client base. I believe that every client has the skill to heal and just needs some guidance and support.
The world is a challenging place as we learn about - or experience - harmful events. Perhaps you have uncertainties in work, a relationship, or otherwise. I understand that coping with your own personal challenges can be daunting at times. I effectively use feedback, self-evaluating questions, and reflection -- leading to happiness and fulfillment. I also tell my clients that I might have certain insights by looking at patterns, behaviors, and habits they don't realize are present. It's important to me that new beginnings come from within and not from my direct advice or influence. Sessions via computer and phone offered.
I provide a safe and secure environment where you can feel safe to share deeply personal thoughts and feelings. My psychodynamic process requires both courage and motivation to change. You will move from where you are to where you want to be. Initial concerns may be about self esteem, work or relationships but effective psychodynamic process identifies hidden patterns and themes that cloud the present and hinder the future. Patients describe the process as "empowering" and "life changing", leaving them with increased energy, confidence and creativity for their lives.
I believe relationships serve as the building blocks for change and that authenticity and compassion are key components to making connections. I am interested in supporting children and families to find the strength within themselves to heal their wounds. I hope to empower clients and help them grow through the therapeutic process.
