Some people find themselves feeling stuck with certain thoughts and feelings. Others find themselves repeating behaviors that lead to unproductive and problematic situations in their life. Therapy is a process where these concerns can be discussed and worked through from a nonjudgmental standpoint. My therapeutic approach is to assist you in reaching your personal or relationship goals with more effective ways of being. The adolescents and adults I work with are understood as individuals that have their own unique attitudes, beliefs, and experiences.
I focus on the unique challenges of those in high-pressure careers. The intensity of these jobs often leads to relationship problems, anxiety about performance, stress, exhaustion, and burnout, resulting in a shrinking support network and frustrated partners. That’s why I also focus on the families of such individuals.
I work with individuals, couples and families who are interested in improving the quality of their daily life. Often this works includes attention to anxiety and/or depression, relationship challenges, or life transitions. My work is thoughtfully designed for each client and situation. Some clients choose to work on one specific challenge at a time, on an as-needed basis. Others take a broader approach and explore themes that have challenged them over a long period of time.
My area of expertise is in recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues. I believe that substance use is a biopsychosocial phenomenon. Substance use roots are in our biology, in our mind processes and in our relationships with others. My clients are the experts on themselves and I feel that on a journey together, using my clinical expertise, we can better align your behaviors with your values.
I believe that the key to a successful therapeutic experience is the strength and quality of the relationship between the client and the therapist. Building trust and rapport is where we start. My experience as a psychotherapist has affirmed my belief that each of us has a great capacity to change and grow. I specialize in working with clients to process emotional pain that has resulted from different stressors that occur through the life cycle. Developing one's emotional awareness can result in more intimate, loving relationships.
Locate the wisdom within you, find peace in your life, relationships and surroundings despite difficulties or crisis. Find acceptance that will allow you to move through life more easily and more joyfully. If you are dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress related issues or chronic pain and illness, together we can find tools to help.
If you are struggling with abuse, fears, relationship issues or troubling habits , we may be the right choice for you.
Growth often begins when you find yourself stuck in a place of pain or frustration. When you are there, it is hard to see a happy outcome. However, with wise counsel, hope returns. And trust in your own wisdom can give rise to creative solutions which were not evident before.
Trust your spirit and wisdom
to lead the way to a successful future.

***I am not currently accepting new clients*** I believe that as human beings we have an innate capacity to shape our lives to align with our personal meaning and values. However, life events, addiction, and mental health often pull us away from our true selves. Rather than demonize these initial coping methods, I seek to assist clients in discovering new, or old, ways of coping and thriving in accordance with each your unique, personal journey.
Since 1990, I have worked with individuals, couples and groups using a number of modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, gestalt, guided imagery and family systems.
