I have experience working in the fields of addiction, substance abuse and dependence, and crisis response.
No guilt, no blame, no shame. If you examine your life journey, you will most likely find that you are where you are for a reason and that reason has nothing to do with fate, destiny, or even luck. If you aren't satisfied with where your life is headed, I believe you have the power and ability to change it. I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. As a 20 year military veteran with multiple deployments I have insight and experience working with combat related Post Traumatic Stress and Military Family Life issues. I am also licensed to provide video and phone service for clients living in Idaho.

Ask yourself, ‘If I could re-live the life I've been living, for eternity, would I?’ (I'm serious. Take this moment to pause and really think about that...). If your answer to that is 'no', it's time to make a change. Every day that you continue to suffer, be it from trauma, crippling anxiety, depression, or addiction, is time lost- you don't get it back. Don't put it off another day. Life is too short. Call us. We’re here to here to help, and I’m confident that, together, we can get you back to feeling hopeful and excited about life again.

If you're struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression and/or finding yourself dealing with these issues in unproductive ways such as substance use then feel free to reach out for a consultation.
We all have an inherent need to make sense of our lives. Psychotherapy addresses this by becoming aware of our unconscious (unaware) patterns. Freud coined the term "repetition compulsion" by which we can unknowingly repeat past experiences. In essence, we want to change but cling to what's familiar. Long-term psychotherapy is my preference as it provides the necessary time and safety for these dynamics to emerge and therefore create freedom if desired.

With a trustworthy ear, I offer a pathway we can walk together in creating a sustainable & structured path for lasting recovery. Navigating the wake of shame & uncertainty from unwanted compulsive sexual behavior & betrayal trauma is difficult. Creating safety & trust are a priority.

EMDR Therapist! I specialize in Trauma, Addiction, and Relationship Issues. Each of these are rooted in the struggle to understand and respond to our emotions in a healthy way which leads to a feeling of being disconnected from ourselves and others. My work in each of these areas focuses on the origin of these struggles. Trauma creates deep emotional wounds that affect the way we view ourselves, others, and the world. Learning how to relate differently to yourself in the scope of traumatic memories will help you to improve your ability to connect with others, yourself, and your environment.

My 10 years as a therapist have exposed me to a variety of challenges from deescalating unsafe situations to mediating complex relationship barriers. In my experience trauma can often be found at the core of depression, anxiety, family/spouse conflict, disordered eating, sexual confusion and addiction. All of these challenges can create a sense of feeling stuck, unfulfilled and alone. In some cases, these struggles can be intimidating to address without help. My belief is that therapy acts as a safe place for you to address those struggles in an empowering way; one that gives a sense of purpose, and leaves you feeling connected.

I'm an addiction and self-esteem specialist.
Why can't you just quit?! You've asked yourself this question so many times. Struggling with an addiction is exhausting. Despite the guilt and shame, the constant promises to yourself and others that this is the last time, the final "one," you find yourself back in the cycle of your same behaviors over and over again. Each time, you feel a little less hope you will ever be able to make lasting change. You have the best of intentions, you have the desire, you've made the promises to yourself and others. Now what?

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
