At times, it can feel like something inside us needs to be fixed; that parts of who we are are somehow wrong or too much. Yet often, those same parts have been carrying the weight of our experiences, doing their best to protect and sustain us. Therapy is not about fixing these parts, but about coming to understand them, meeting them with compassion, and discovering a deeper strength that allows us to engage more fully with the complexity of being human.

Do you feel stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break, caught in anxiety, overwhelmed by your emotions, or disconnected from yourself? Maybe you find yourself overthinking, struggling in relationships, or feeling like you’ve lost a sense of who you are. If so, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Together, we slow things down and begin to understand what’s really underneath the weight of it all, so that change can happen in a way that feels meaningful for you.

As an existentially-minded therapist, I am deeply committed to helping people find peace of mind, particularly as they navigate grief and end-of-life transitions. I understand the profound challenges of modern life, recognizing that many experience rushed living, lack of acceptance, and anxious or depressed moods, which can lead to unnecessary suffering, especially during times of significant loss and change. I am particularly attuned to the delicate and often overwhelming emotions associated with grief and loss, guiding individuals and families with compassion as they navigate these profound life passages.

From the outside, you "have it together." Inside, it is another story with questions about who you are, what you want, and how to move forward. Whether it is the heartbreak of divorce, the complexity of faith shifts, intimacy issues, disrupted communication skills, or old wounds you are tired of carrying, I hold space for it all. In Utah’s unique cultural mix, LDS or non-LDS, I create space for both experiences with respect, understanding and care. My work helps clients stop performing, start healing, and create relationships and a life that feels authentically theirs while discovering joy that is uniquely their own.

You may feel caught in painful patterns—conflict, distance, or emotional walls that keep you from the closeness you long for. Emotions can feel intense, overwhelming, or confusing, and past experiences may make it hard to feel safe, seen, or understood. You might crave deeper connection, clarity, and a sense of ease in your relationships and within yourself. Therapy can be a space to slow things down, feel truly heard, and make sense of what you’re experiencing while creating the emotional safety and connection you’ve been seeking.

I love working with individuals who are navigating life's challenges, and I understand the stress, grief and emotional blocks that can keep us feeling "stuck". My approach is compassionate, holistic and grounded in evidence-based practices that foster healing and personal growth. I often use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process trauma and access deeper emotional healing. My goal is to support clients in finding balance, building self-acceptance and restoring a sense of peace in their lives.

I want to empower you with the insights, skills, and self-awareness you need to heal, grow, and thrive. My clients come to me wanting more out of life. They've been dragged down by depression, anxiety, and trauma. They feel stuck in a rut, frustrated by their own self-defeating habits. Maybe they've tried therapy, medication, seminars, self-help books, meditation, yoga...but nothing seems to work. They know that they are capable of more, but just don't know how to make it happen.

As a therapist, I feel honored to join my clients on their journey of healing as they are reminded of their strengths and learn new skills to overcome their challenges. I understand the importance of building trust with my clients, respecting their stories without judgment, and creating a safe space for them to be open and vulnerable. I find joy in helping my clients better understand themselves and their past and present relationships, let go of negative core beliefs and patterns that are no longer serving them, and ultimately believe that they are enough.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
