I offer an eclectic approach that includes strength-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and supportive therapy to help children, adults, and teens process through life challenges, stress, depression, anxiety, grief, or other issues.
I earned my bachelor's degree in Social Work from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (AGGIE Pride!). I began my Social Work career working in different capacities of local school systems, with mentoring, teaching, and working as a liaison between the school system and the local communities and families. I have been passionate about advocating for the youth and my local community. After a few years of working with adolescents, I began to embark on my Master’s degree and I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master's in Social Work and a concentration in families and children.

I have received advanced training in both Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Life can be challenging, and we are not meant to travel it alone. Each of us, at times, needs another person to walk alongside us as we sort things out. I am honored to serve in this role, working with you through life's difficulties, transitions, tragedies, and triumphs. Very few challenges are insurmountable. Sometimes it just takes some added support.

Through modalities including Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I hope to collaboratively help you find the path that brings you the most joy.
I have lived and traveled in many countries throughout my life and initially wanted to “save the world” by focusing on ecology and chose to get my BA in Environmental Sciences. Through my own journey of therapy and recovery, I found that I felt more purpose and passion in supporting others in overcoming whatever obstacles were preventing them from living a full and meaningful life. I understand how important it is to keep an open mind and remain non-judgmental. In a society that – whether meaningfully or not – often generates a sense of shame, isolation, and helplessness on individuals, I want to do the exact opposite.

I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice.
I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client.

I like to do what works for each client- but particularly use CBT, DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based strategies in coming alongside clients during this process.
Counseling can be a scary process. And sometimes the process of change is so uncomfortable, it's easier to ignore it or avoid it. That just makes you human! Whether you have been experiencing unwanted thoughts, mood swings, major changes, or maybe you aren't finding the same joy in things that you typically love- therapy provides a time for you to set goals for your future or maybe provide meaning and offer peace about the past. I have a passion for working with adolescents, young adults, and adults as you navigate the challenges in developing your identity, nourishing relationships, and adjusting to life transitions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
