I believe that clients are the experts of their own experiences and are all capable of being empowered to reach their goals. I am able to help those struggling from religious trauma, intimate partner violence, childhood abuse, or other traumas. I can help clients deconstruct oppressive ideologies, especially forms of authoritarianism and fundamentalism. I am neurodivergent-affirming, focused primarily on aiding autistic clients in unmasking and accommodating themselves. As a queer person, I also specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, including asexual, aromantic, bisexual, and trans/nonbinary clients.

Real change is hard, long-term work not meant to be done alone. Dysfunctions around sexuality, food, money and work (the so-called "process" addictions) are primarily a struggle with intimacy. One needs to understand THE FUNCTION OF one's own self - destructive behaviors: that self hatred is not low self esteem; that contempt for others is not good self concept; that my wife is not the problem; and that sex is not my greatest need. I am several steps ahead of you on a journey I encourage you to take. Real change is hard, don't do it alone. :)

My goal is to be able to help you achieve yours. I plan to work with each individual and provide evidenced based treatment that will help solve any issues that you may be facing. I have experience working with various clients from all backgrounds and will be able to provide a non bias, listening ear. In todays society we tend to face problems alone when we do not have to. The trauma of addiction touches all of us in one way or another. Recognizing how addiction impacts you physically, mentally, and spiritually can be an awesome awakening to an entirely new way of life. Often individuals suffer from the consequences of making high risk decisions that cause crisis for themselves and their families. Dealing with these consequences alone may increase the desire to continue substances and more negative consequences. Allow me shed light on how end this vicious cycle. I am a dedicated and compassionate clinician that is committed to the well being of my clients and their families.

"I'm okay. Everything's alright". You tell yourself this repetitively while withholding tears and smiling for everyone else. You secretly struggle to believe what God says about you. Some days you feel so alone. You battle to feel loved and good enough to be the person God created you to be. Anxiety, depression, fear, grief, loss, shame and trauma have become emotional strongholds. Life seems to keep coming and you feel depleted. You ultimately want to live in freedom in your mind, no longer enslaved by the pain of the past, comparison, and even fear that your future will be failure. You desire to sense hope and fulfillment again.

You might be struggling with an eating disorder, body image, anxiety, or trauma. Or you may be dealing with relationship/attachment issues, infertility, or living with a chronic illness. My therapy approach is very collaborative. I believe you are the expert of your life and I will work with you to achieve your goals. Research clearly indicates that having a good relationship between the therapist and client is crucial for positive outcomes to occur. I am compassionate, an empathetic listener, and I strive to create a space that feels comfortable for you to express yourself. In a safe environment, together we will explore, process, and learn what can be done differently in order to achieve greater satisfaction and peace.

Empathic. Easygoing. Humorist. You create happiness for others, but you struggle to find your own bliss. The mask of being the happy-go-lucky friend is tiring. It's beginning to wear you down. You're always expected to bring the jokes. But, it feels like your pain is fake & unworthy of being heard. Putting the dark humor & sarcasm aside can be foreign & painful when you're so used to always bringing the wit to the table. You deserve to give yourself permission to prioritize your needs & set boundaries. Now is the time to heal the pain you've been avoiding. I will help you find joy again with some laughs along the way.

You wake up each day and the world around you feels more difficult to understand and engage with. You find yourself encountering obstacles everywhere and you feel stuck. You say to yourself “I’ve tried talking with family and friends, and nothing has changed”. The symptoms of stress, anxiety, and sadness haven't gone away or even lessened and you don't understand why. I understand reaching out to a counselor can be a frightening decision. You want to make sure you find the right person to connect with to talk about your painful and confusing thoughts and emotions. I’m here for you. I will listen to respond and not to react.

We have transitions in life that make coping difficult at times. I believe that we all need a safe place to express ourselves. Therapy does not have to be sitting down talking about your childhood. (Although it might include this.) I like to use therapy to help a person find motivation and meaning in a sometimes hectic world. Whether you are dealing with grief, divorce, relationship problems or feeling the pressures of daily living, having a place to express yourself through words, art, and expressive play can release the tension and increase your coping skills.

How can I find a therapist in Charlotte?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
