Therapy for me is the art of helping a person bring wholeness to their life with the Christ-inspired profound understanding that the human person has the potential to be more beautiful after we experience brokenness than before. I’m convinced this is true, even if it may sound hard to believe and just a nice sounding statement.

Lisa is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Minnesota and received her Doctor of Psychology in Counseling Psychology at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. She has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, rehabilitation/integrated health, consulting for organizations and in-home services. She has experience providing individual and group therapy as well as conducting psychological assessments for diagnostic purposes. Lisa is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, ART, a psychological intervention effective for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and addiction.

The struggle is real! As a licensed professional clinical counselor, I work with children/teens and adults individually, and strive to provide my clients a safe, open space where they can feel at ease to begin the therapeutic process. I aim to meet all my clients where they are at & provide unconditional positive regard for each unique experience that is brought to the table. Seeking out help is a sign of strength, & I work with my clients to develop healthy strategies to manage the challenges they are faced with. With training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, I help my clients regain their sense of power over their lives.

At Serenity Mental Health Services, we enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life. We are passionate about what we do, and feel great joy when we see individuals make positive changes towards their recovery goals. If starting therapy with a new therapist feels a little bit daunting, that’s alright! Life and all its stressors can be difficult to manage sometimes, and having positive support can make a huge difference for our mental health. I believe that everyone deserves to have a safe space where they can openly share their story, regardless of their various identities, background, or personal experiences. I have worked with men suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders at Park Avenue Treatment Center in Minneapolis, for approximately 10 years. I have over twenty years of experience working with the homeless populations in the Twin Cities. I believe in the Person Centered Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy philosophy approaches of community, optimism, and hope. This fosters my belief in the resiliency and the growth of individuals. I also use Cognitive Behavioral techniques for self-awareness.

Maddie is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a pre-licensed psychotherapist under supervision for LPCC licensure. She has immediate openings for therapy. She has a background as a writer that informs her approach to therapy. She believes in the importance of empowering people to develop and grow into their own story and tap into their own motivations for change. She also believes that building community support and connection is an integral part of the healing process. She has experience working with adult men, adult women, adolescents, and LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients with various mental health issues.

I have 22 years of speciality in the treatment of mental health difficulties and relationship conflict.

A little about me – I have worked in the social services field for the past 8+ years, primarily working in Adult Mental Health. I have additional experience in working with individuals who are in recovery from substance or alcohol use and individuals who have developmental disabilities. I am passionate about the social services field and dedicated to helping improve the lives of others, at a pace that is right for them.

Shanna completed her Masters of Counseling Psychology at Bethel University. She received her Certificate in Marriage and Family Studies from Bethel Seminary. She has been licensed through the State of Minnesota as a marriage and family therapist since 2009. Shanna enjoys working with individuals, adolescents, couples and families. She has extensive experience in working with individuals and teenagers affected by trauma, depression and anxiety. Shanna works with clients on a wide range of clinical issues.

Matthew Harkema is an Intern (LPC track) in Minnesota. His educational journey reflects his dedication and commitment to excellence. Maintaining a 4. 0 GPA in his counseling program at Crown College underscores his determination to succeed in this field. Additionally, Matthew's Bachelor's degree in English and Business Administration from Hope College has equipped him with a diverse skill set and a strong academic foundation. Initially, Matthew's career path was centered around business, with a focus on sales.

I work best with clients who are going through transitions, experiencing relationship problems, unravelling past traumas, breaking away from family patterns, coping with mood disorders, and trying to find themselves. I strongly believe therapy is for everyone, and that most of us at some point in our lives find ourselves needing clarity, refocusing, and processing. Some of my clients have seen counselors throughout their lives; others are having their first experience in therapy. I enjoy working with both! (At this time I am only seeing clients 18+ years old)

Since 2005 I have worked with clients struggling with a variety of challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, addiction, family strain, low self-esteem/confidence, parenting, grief/loss and life transitions.

Numa Psychotherapy offers individual and relational psychotherapy to adolescents (12+) and adults. While each therapist at Numa has their own style, we generally focus on long-term, depth-oriented therapy. Our clinicians have significant experience working with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, neurodivergence, OCD, life transitions, and identity development/concerns (gender, sexuality, race, etc.). Hello & welcome. Seeking therapy is a decision of courage and I’m so glad you are exploring this option. I provide therapy to residents of Minnesota, in person & via Telehealth. I love working with a variety of clients, including those struggling to adjust to major life changes, have experienced grief and loss, or are struggling with substance use issues and considering positive steps to improve their health and well-being. Therapy can be hard work, but when a client is motivated for change, I find it very inspiring and a privilege to work collaboratively with these individuals to reach the goals they have identified for themselves.

Zumbro Valley Health Center is a private, non-profit organization that provides mental health, substance use disorder, primary care, and community-based services to SE Minnesota. We offer support and care for adults, children, adolescents, and their families. Zumbro Valley Health Center staff work collaboratively with clients, co-workers and community providers to develop a comprehensive treatment plan which addresses the distinct needs of each client, including treatment for psychological, medical, substance use and social issues.

Heidi received her master’s degree for Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology Criminal Justice from University of Northwestern. She is working towards licensure through the state of Minnesota as a marriage and family therapist. Heidi has been a Clinical trainee for two years and is seeking licensure in 2023. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and adolescents and has experience in working with individuals with developmental/ physical challenges. She utilizes a collaborative and Narrative approach when treating clients.
