I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with thirteen years of clinical experience. Passionate about providing individualized and intentional care, I believe that therapeutic work requires a strong connection, where clients feel heard and empowered. Taking a psychotherapeutic approach, I help clients to develop awareness of how we come to understand ourselves and the way we interact with the world. Through this journey, we develop compassion for the patterns we created to adapt to our environment, while exploring what may keep us from experiencing life with more connection and acceptance, and less shame and judgment.

I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT, and Structural Family Therapy among other modalities.
I use an informal, down to earth approach so clients can feel comfortable working collaboratively to "name the elephant" in the client's life, drill down to the core of issues and discover how patterns from the past repeat in the present. I am passionate about challenging stuck points, old habits and outdated beliefs with care, compassion and respect. I am never afraid to bring humor into a session when appropriate as I value the healing properties of laughter.

I specialize in helping Christian women integrate their faith into clinical practice and solutions. I am here to support and empower women who have lost their sense of self. I specialize in helping set up goals and develop a path to achieve them. I enjoy working with married couples, to help them develop healthy ways to handle conflict, and also those trying to blend a family. Currently using EFT for couples as well! I also do premarital counseling for engaged couples.

Are you parenting a toddler? Feeling exhausted? Wishing your little one's big feelings weren't so overwhelming (for them or you or both)? I love helping littles (babies/toddlers/preschoolers) and their caregivers reduce sources of struggle and increase connection, affection and joy in their relationships. It's hard to be a parent! I know! I have three children myself and have ridden out many a hard moment. I provide neuroscience informed, non-judgmental support, resources and encouragement to help families thrive. Beyond helping littles, I am honored to help moms get "me time" back on the family calendar for overall wellness.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
