Healing and growth are hard - not including all that life can, and probably will, throw at you along the way. My goal is to not only bring knowledge and support to each and every session, but also my authentic self. I believe that having a therapist with whom you can connect to, laugh with, and does not feel robotic can greatly impact your therapeutic journey and the level of safety and support you feel in processing the hard stuff.

We each have an authentic self, and things we know to be deeply true about our hearts, minds, identities and lives. I believe that no matter how confused we may feel, we can all find our way back to what is unique, creative and courageous in ourselves. These are difficult times. There is nothing maladjusted about feeling anxious or depressed in a world that does not feel equitable or safe. My goal is not to help you adjust to broken things; it is to build upon the strengths of your identity, your values and your truth so that you can stand strong with yourself and your community, and fight for a world that makes sense.

While the avenues of our lives seem very predictable, all too often that predictability falls to the way side. We summon the resources we know from our past. A feeling of being off balance, overwhelmed, misunderstood and at times alone can pressure our basic instincts. I am grateful to the individual who chooses to explore with me the answers they may already hold. The process of bringing concerns to the room and taking the time to look, study and explore individual needs and strengths begins the journey to self acceptance.

Our lives are impacted from the unhealed hurts from our childhoods. I facilitate processing feelings and emotions, often from childhood. Crying is our natural, healing response to any hurt. However for most of us, our adult care givers were uncomfortable with our crying (healing) and interrupted the crying (healing). They confused crying with hurting. Hurt, is the event that CAUSED the crying. Crying, IS the healing of the hurt. Unhealed hurts impede (color) our reality by creating a filter that’s clogged with unprocessed feelings, emotions, moods and themes. “Broken” does not exist. Old hurts exist and deeply impact us.

Although I work with a range of clients, I have particular expertise and interest in working with the LGBTQ+ community. Since an online profile is so one dimensional, I offer an intro session for individuals to ask me as many questions as they like. I'm invested in being available and forthcoming (within a frame of professional boundaries). I feel unique qualities that I have are a sense of humor and a progressive world view that includes helping clients feel completely at ease and not judged. I recently attended the Trans Wellness Conference in Philadelphia, and continue education that is current and cutting edge.

When I was younger, I always wanted to help and be there for others as much as I could. I want to help people who are struggling. I love supporting others in making huge changes in their lives and being one of their biggest cheerleaders in success. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for people with OCD. Our deep understanding of the nuances and intricacies of OCD enables us to properly diagnose and treat it. Additionally, we have received intensive training in Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy (ERP)—the gold standard treatment for OCD.

You’re a capable, resourceful adult to others, but when your life stops making sense, who do you turn to? Hi, I’m Jennie and I’ve helped adults cope with anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, work and caregiver stress. Creative and high-capacity people often find their way to me (neurodiversity welcomed). I support individuals from varied backgrounds: grad students; parents of young children; business leaders, first responders, teachers and nurses; military family members; government employees and creatives. I understand both metropolitan “hustle culture” and community-based small town dynamics, each with its own strengths and demands.

My approach to treating OCD is warm but direct; my goal is to help you become your own therapist. Creating art—especially ceramics and painting—and skiing are my big passions in life. I became a therapist, first and foremost, to help people who are struggling. When I was younger, I went through a very difficult time with my health. That led me to pause my life and examine how I was coping with stress and anxiety. It was part of a life-changing journey that inspired me to become a mental health counselor and art therapist. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for people with OCD.
