With my educational background and further educational training rooted in attachment-based approaches to counseling, I am able to provide a foundational understanding of our basic need to connect with ourselves and others.
We are wired to connect with one another. And the nature of pain is that it can cause us to withdraw from those around us, including from ourselves. This is where I try to help; I take the art of listening seriously and recognize that being heard is a part of the therapy process. Experiences with depression, anxiety, relationships, substances and much more all impact & interfere with our ability to connect with others and with being comfortable with ourselves. If this is where you are, please contact me to see if I would be a good fit for you.

Unresolved Trauma, Chronic Stress, and Anxiety can leave you feeling out-of-control and out-of-touch with the version of yourself you long to know. You may experience toxic shame, excessive guilt, helplessness, or a myriad of physical symptoms. Maybe you want to enjoy your life but you feel trapped by your past, fearful of your future, and disconnected from your present. It can feel scary to start this journey because you’ve become "comfortable" with the way things are even though you want them to be different.

I am passionate about utilizing a systemic and attachment-based approach within the counseling process to provide holistic services to a diverse range of populations, including individuals, couples, and families.
The relationships we form with intimate partners and ourselves are vulnerable and very often confusing and scary. My goal is to help you create secure attachments, explore and manage anxiety and fears, increase self-esteem, and improve connection within yourself and loved ones. Many that I work with have experienced sexual, childhood, or relationship trauma that can cause anxiety, undesired attachments, difficulty to regulate emotions, and connections that do not feel fulfilling. You may feel lost and vulnerable within your relationship with yourself and your partner. You deserve a safe space to express and explore these dynamics.

My individual work combines other attachment-based, affect-focused, body-mind awareness approaches including Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family System and Existential Psychotherapy.
If we think alike, we would agree that a good life is a life in which we are able to work, to love, and to play. However, in reality, many situations become barriers and prevent us from enjoying life. At times, we might even feel we can't breathe. As a devoted therapist, I will work together with you to remove these barriers -- whatever the cause might be: career stress, rocky relationships, identity confusion, past trauma... You need not face your problems alone. Over years, I have witnessed changes happening, wounds healed, trust rebuilt, and fear given way to courage.

Are you feeling so overwhelmed or stuck and you're not sure how to get out of the hole you're in? Or you're feeling intense sadness or anxiety that is uncomfortable and exhausting? Maybe this is stemming from trauma and/or loss and you can no longer ignore it. Working through our issues in therapy is not easy but completely worth it to feel better and improve the quality of our lives. The time is now, you can do it, and you don't have to do it alone.

With a trauma-informed and story-focused posture, I utilize Internal Family Systems, attachment-based models, Psychodynamic interventions, and somatic and mindfulness-based practices.
Hello! You have taken a courageous step by simply exploring therapy options, and my hope is that you continue to receive clarity and empowerment to take the next step. To be human is to experience both immense joy and overwhelming sadness or fear. Sometimes the fear just becomes too much, and we find helpful but harmful ways of coping. My desire is that the therapeutic, safe space invites you to return to hope, to play, and to belonging through relationship. This return will require walking through - not around - the pain and sadness. I would love to come alongside you in this process!

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
