This summer marks 30 years that I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with children and families in Boca Raton and the surrounding areas. Having grown up in Boston and trained at Boston University and Massachusetts General Hospital I need to disclose I am still a Red Sox fan. My expertise lies in rendering therapy to children and families and consulting with parents to help them make sense of and deal with the myriad of challenges that our children present. I do not conduct conduct Psychological/Educational Evaluations so if necessary I will refer families to our local experts.

Our bodies and brains have natural systems for dealing with difficult and stressful life situations or events. Experiencing or watching a frightening, dangerous, or violent event can overload these these natural systems. Other frequent life experiences such as job or relationship stress, divorce, loss, and accidents can trigger trauma responses as well. Feelings of depression, isolation, anxiousness, tension, irritability, numbness, nightmares, or alcohol/substance abuse are common. Other times, we might just feel stuck and unable to move past the past. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a therapy that can help.

Feeling safe to express yourself in a nonjudgmental environment is an important piece to therapy. Finding your therapist is a difficult personal decision. Your therapist should encourage you to explore your honest thoughts and feelings, since the exploration can help lead to life changes. Your therapist should encourage self exploration and assist in identifying beneficial life changes, as well as ways to change negative outlooks on life. While academics and credentials are important, therapy revolves around an intimate relationship, and the relationship is the key to making changes.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I try to offer affordable mental health counseling, because I believe that therapy should be accessible to all who need it.
