I have training in emotion focused couples therapy, systems and psychodynamic approach, and in dealing with culturally sensitive issues.
The stressors of day to day tasks can drown out the voice that may have deeper connection to your intuitive and wiser self. Being in therapy can potentially allow you to listen to yourself in a unique and meaningful way. My hope is to provide an empathic environment to explore and challenge some of the barriers, often self-created, keeping you from your goals. I have over 15 years of experience working with adults, couples and families.

I use an integrative approach with psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral and process oriented elements along with the critical impact of culture and diversity to understand your complex and unique world.
You are worthy, unique, and enough! You have the capacity to heal and thrive! An extraordinary and fulfilling life is possible for all of us! At some point, we may all experience pain. Our struggles and “stuckness” are complicated and layered. If you feel stuck and are yearning to be “unstuck,” we can work together. Being stuck can present as lack of meaning, feeling disconnected from yourself, having unfulfilling or unsatisfying relationships, challenges with transitions, deep dilemmas, mood troubles, and constant worry among many others.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, but gravitate mostly to psychodynamic, CBT, Attachment focused, & Rogerian, to help my clients reach their goals.
Is anxiety holding you back in your personal or professional life? Are you overwhelmed with a sense of urgency while constantly feeling paralyzed at the same time? Maybe you feel like you’ve lost all sense of control over your relationships and your life, and that feels scary. What’s scarier, though, is continuing to feel stuck, anxious, and unhappy. You deserve to feel calm and empowered, and I believe that therapy can help make that happen. Through targeted interventions and introspection, I help millennial professionals manage anxiety, nurture fulfilling relationships, and realign with their purpose.

Therapy is a wonderful opportunity for personal growth. It is also helpful in overcoming human experiences such as anxiety and depression, for improving relationships and for changing behaviors that may be hindering our quality of life. It is common to experience hesitation or ambivalence when starting therapy, much like many other new beginnings.

Sometimes we encounter hardships that seem too overwhelming or painful to manage. These struggles may occur in marriage, family relationships, parenting, at work, or coping with every-day life. They can be destabilizing, leaving us feeling hopeless and helpless. I believe these uncomfortable emotions can often be a window of opportunity to look deeper into what has happened, our role in it, and our reaction to it. Within these moments, we can unravel our own inner wisdom to help us heal and grow.

We ALL need a therapist, whether we like to admit it or not. We’re either struggling with our internal dialogue or external actions and behaviors, having the space and freedom to say what we wish to but can’t/won’t goes a long way in helping us feel more like us.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
