Hi! I’m Jimmy, a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with teens and young adults struggling with school, depression, anxiety, transitions, rule-breaking, and more. I also specialize in working with children identified with developmental disorders and their families. In addition to working with younger clients, I also have extensive experience working with adults across the lifespan on addiction challenges, big life transitions, and family/relationship conflict. Through individual, couple, or family sessions, we can work together to help you identify what matters most in your life and create realistic goals.

Dr. Nisco received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in consortium with Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and obtained his Masters in Clinical Psychology and Bachelors in Psychology from Loyola College. He has trained at Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, MD, Patuxent Institution minimal security prison in Sykesville, MD, National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Menlo Park, CA, and Veterans Hospitals in Palo Alto, CA and Baltimore, MD. He has also been on staff at various community outpatient mental health centers.

Well, hello. I am glad you decided to meet. Let me pour you some tea or coffee and let’s discuss what is on your mind. Sometimes it can be pretty difficult to seek out help. Especially for those who either thought they didn’t need it or were convinced that their issues are manageable. That often occurs with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Regardless, you took the first step, as difficult as it may have been. As a next step I want to work with you and build trust. Once that has been established and you feel comfortable, we can address the items that cause you concern.

In life, you seek out the ability to have peace, harmony, a fulfilling career, and a happy family. However, sometimes these things do not happen, or things go astray. Life happens, tragedy comes about, or situations arise to make you feel unhinged Sometimes, you just need someone with whom you can unload. Someone who will walk you through solutions to the problems at hand. I would like to be that person for you.

We are an outpatient mental health practice in Roanoke, Salem, Blacksburg, Daleville, and Floyd, Virginia, dedicated to helping patients overcome emotional problems using counseling techniques that promote more rapid recovery than traditional non-directive therapy. Everyone goes through challenging situations, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you’ve faced, there’s nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when needed. I have been working with children, adolescents and adults for 34 years as a soccer coach, and providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families in Northern Virginia since 2015. I have a deep passion for working with people, and especially children, adolescents, and young adults. I love to combine a person's passion, such as sports/extra-curricular activities with therapeutic modalities to help them navigate the obstacles in their lives. I take a tailored approach to individual needs using cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and person-centered approaches that build valuable skills, and nurture autonomy.

I get it, reaching out for help can feel intimidating and confusing. That is why I work to make people feel comfortable and accepted. I try to make the therapy process enjoyable with humor and affirmation. My approach is collaborative as I view therapy as a form of partnership. I have worked with both adults and children with a range of diagnoses including, autism, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, ODD, ADHD, emotional regulation, grief, life transitions, and self esteem issues. I believe that people are more then their diagnosis and that our mistakes do not define us, but are opportunities for growth.

My speciality is in trauma which I have published on. I use EMDR, parts work and a psychodynamic approach. I particularly appreciate working with those who were chronically stressed in their childhood & doing couples intensives. I have extensive experience working with U.S. service members, business leaders with stressful jobs, intimate partner violence, and childhoods of neglect & deprivation. I also conduct research on trauma and health psychology. I do not just, "sit and listen." I play an active role in your therapy.

The Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care is a pastoral counseling center open to everyone. There is a place for you here— whether you practice a faith tradition or are searching, whether you are looking for support as you take the next steps in your life or you feel sad, stuck or unhappy. Our counselors are trained mental health professionals, many of whom are also practicing clergy. But we don’t preach: we listen. We offer counseling for children, families, couples, and adults including seniors. Group therapy services are also available.

Nice to meet you! My name is Joseph Autry and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 8 years of experience. I have worked with clients with anxiety, depression, substance use, personality, mood regulation, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, PTSD, eating disorders, and problems with trauma. I will often use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy are forms of therapy I usually like to use as well. I believe that being a therapist has allowed me to work and help clients who are feeling depressed and having thoughts of wanting to hurt

Veritas Counseling is a general counseling practice treating many of life's issues: anxiety, depression, couples counseling, family therapy, postpartum, child behaviors, parent coaching, trauma, PTSD, autism, ADHD, stress management, grief, death, and career counseling.  We do not participate with any insurance companies, but we will give you a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance for reimbursement of fees. We also accept all HSA/FSA funds, so if you have HSA money saved you can use it for counseling! Upon client request we also offer Catholic and Christian counseling.

My treatment approach combines the latest advances in Western neuroscience with evidence-based mindfulness practices rooted in Eastern philosophies. I primarily utilize two complementary modalities - Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These are evidenced based and trauma-informed treatments that aim to address the root causes of psychological suffering rather than simply addressing the outlying symptoms.

I have been in the psychology/counseling field since 2002. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Commonwealth of Virginia, National Certified Counselor (NCC). As a former NCAA D1 athlete, I feel strongly that exercise is an important component to a healthy mind, body, and soul. I have a sharp interest incorporating this philosophy in my workings as a licensed mental health therapist. I currently am a therapist in McLean, Va working for Ryan Counseling, PLLC.
