I specialize in supporting individuals with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and trauma histories by fostering tailored strategies and insights for managing daily challenges.
I'm so glad you're here. You are so courageous to have begun this journey. You've just taken the first step to feeling better- to creating a happier, more peaceful future. I believe we are not meant to manage the struggles of life alone. Often what we need is a listening ear and an outside perspective to provide gentle feedback and guidance. That's where I come in. You will be met with empathy and kindness in a non-judgmental space. I identify as liberal and strive to provide inclusive, culturally competent care. Regardless of why you're struggling, I'd be honored to provide support. I hope to hear from you soon.

Having a strong support system to help you navigate through tough times is always a good thing to have, and I would love to be apart of that system to give that support and extra push you need.

I'm Jess, and I am a queer neurodivergent therapist who practices LGBTQIA+ friendly, Autistic and ADHD affirming, and trauma-informed therapy. It's my passion to support folks who are feeling the weight of shame and self-doubt, questioning where they belong/who they are, and struggling in their relationship with food and body. I know how painful it can be to feel out of place and like you're trying to fit into a mold that just doesn't feel right for you, so it's important to me to cultivate a space where you can feel like it's celebrated to be you. In our space, there is no such thing as being "too sensitive" or "too much."

There is such a wide range of emotions that comes with being diagnosed with Autism and ADHD as an adult when you have lived your whole life not knowing there was a reason you didn’t fit the mold others seemingly did so easily. Catherine has lived this as she was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD in her 30’s. She knows what it is like to navigate the feelings of grief for all the support you didn’t receive growing up as well as the relief of finally knowing and understanding who you are.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
