My goal is for my clients to experience a clearing of the cobwebs from the past that are interfering with life today. I help clients to recognize and change childhood beliefs that may be preventing them from connecting to their true selves. I assist clients in allowing themselves to be in relationships that are loving, supportive, and respectful; empowering themselves to see their value; healing the past; developing an internal calm and peace; finding their natural flow; trusting themselves to make good decisions; and learning how to regulate themselves in healthy ways.

I believe throughout our lives, from childhood to adulthood there are circumstances that cause us to lose sight of our true authentic self. I value taking time to develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust in a safe environment. My sessions are casual, and I enjoy working as a team in developing goals and strategies. When working with children, I like to use play based techniques and movement to assist in regulation while discussing stressful topics. My client base consists of children, teens, young adults transitioning into adulthood and adults dealing with stressors that impact day to day functioning.

I provide therapy services to both adolescents and adults. I work with individuals and couples, with my clinical interests being: self-esteem, empowerment, healthy communication, mindfulness, communication skills, and life transitions.

I have received my Master's Degree from Marquette University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My training during school involved inpatient hospital work for about 2 years. My most recent experience has been in various adult day treatment programs for the past 7 years; this involved both individual sessions and group sessions multiple days a week with the same client (PHP and IOP programs). I have had advanced training in addressing OCD and related anxieties, Trauma Counseling, Depression, Emotional Dysregulation and Interpersonal Conflict needs.

Donnie utilizes a solution-focused and client-centered approach that supports clients in setting and reaching personalized, obtainable goals that improve their overall wellbeing. He also draws on evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach clients coping skills and help them develop a better understanding of the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With almost ten years of clinical experience, Donnie has abundant experience integrating these therapy modalities in a manner best suited to meet the needs of each client.
