I will be in your corner and with training in psychoanalytic theory, psychodynamics, mindfulness, neurodiversity and spiritually centered approaches we will make sense out of what is going on.
You are smart and sensitive...sometimes the world is just too much to make sense of. Not sure how to tell if you are anxious, depressed, over reacting or something else? Something’s wrong, but you don't know what it is. I will help you figure it out. Through an integrative approach of talking and mindfulness techniques developed over 40 years we work together to accurately identify your issues and with deep understanding find inner control of the root emotions that are causing difficulties.

I have completed extensive psychoanalytic training.
The conflicts and problems associated with living in this difficult world start in childhood and persist into adult life. Effective treatment enables patients to free themselves of the chronic unhappiness and dissatisfaction that have been too long part of their lives. This requires the special training and experience that I have acquired in my professional life. And, it requires a patient who is prepared to change.

All are trained and practiced in CBT, DBT, psychoanalytic, and existential therapy as foundation.
We have been helping people learn how to make the changes they want since 2008. Relationship woes? Existential Angst? Have a troubled teen or child in trouble? Feel stuck your life? You are not alone. There are other people out here going through this too. This is temporary. We will reach out to you, discuss your needs, and pair you with a therapist familiar with your needs. Together, you will meet, identify issues, collaborate to create a plan, follow through with some reasonable interventions, and figure out ways to make the changes last.

I am a psychodynamic clinician working with adults and older adolescents. If you encounter problems in relationships, work, or other areas of your life, I can provide an empathic, experienced perspective to help you more fully understand the current issues, and to see if there are patterns outside of your awareness that are contributing to your difficulties. I address deeper causes of anxiety and depression, that are usually related to personal history. I see the aim of treatment as increased self-understanding and change.

As a psychoanalytic therapist, my goal is to help such children repair those early vulnerabilities.
Anxiety, worry and self-doubt are perhaps the most common and widespread challenges faced by children today. From every area of their lives, children face daunting pressures and demands. For those already anxious or vulnerable, these pressures maybe be overwhelming. Already primed for frustration or failure, such children may find navigating key developmental transitions - from childhood to grade school, for example, or from pre-adolescence to the teen years - difficult if not impossible. Parents may have tried other interventions or therapies; but often with little or no success. What's a concerned parent to do?

I am proud of my professional training which combines child therapy, intensive internships in developmental psychology, Piagetian psychology, psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy.
I am very fortunate to combine my three loves: people, psychology and dogs. Over the years my dogs have accompanied me to my office and have been of great therapeutic value and pleasure in their interaction with patients of all ages. Therapy is an exciting adventure in which therapist and patient agree to explore the patient's life, dreams, problems, fears, hopes and aspirations. As therapist it is my responsibility to guide: sometimes lead, share and always to jointly explore who the individual is. While everyones' therapy is different, therapy is the opportunity to pull ones' life together and develop the courage to change.

People begin to heal when they feel heard. This is the first step on your journey to healing. Have you been surrounded by feelings of anxiety, stress or depression? Have you experienced grief or loss in your life? Have you encountered a traumatic event? You do not have to go through this alone. In my sessions, I strive to create a non-judgmental and empathetic environment where you can safely explore these challenges. At first these hurdles seem impossible to overcome, but by working together we can make individualized, achievable goals that will provide the tools for you to conquer these barriers.

Felling unsatisfied in your relationships or career? Is your child or adolescent struggling with school or at home? Is anxiety getting in the way of identifying and realizing life goals and aspirations? Do you see yourself repeating various patterns and feel ill-equipped to change them? Learned patterns from the past can persist into adulthood and frustrate one's ability to realize age-appropriate goals with relationships, career issues, and impede academic success.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
