Hi, I'm Julian, I work with people who are looking for a change in their life. I tend to attract people who are introspective, curious, and have a desire to learn. I provide both traditional talk psychotherapy and for those who want an internal experience, I provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in New York City and the greater New York State area.
Even when we try our best, whether through healthy or unhealthy coping mechanisms, we are all products of our upbringing, unique life experiences, and a world that often doesn’t support our needs. My practice as a psychotherapist, first and foremost, prioritizes creating a warm and unconditionally accepting space, where you are free to explore your truest self. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples, drawing from relational, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic approaches.
I believe in the power of resilience and human connection when overcoming adversity. I strive to understand and intervene at multiple levels of the client's experience, including: relational patterns, family values, gender, socio-economic, and ethno-cultural variables. I offer an array of consultation, psychotherapy, and assessment services to adults, teens, and children looking to develop coping skills to manage life stressors and emotional health challenges including: anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and adjustment issues.
There are a lot of valid reasons to avoid therapy. If you grew up in a home, community, or as part of a culture where you didn’t really talk about upset feelings, it can be disorienting to think about having those conversations with a stranger. Maybe you have concerns about how people in your life might react if they found out you were looking for a therapist to talk to. Maybe you have had negative experiences with a therapist in the past, and aren’t sure if you want to try again. But there is a part of you that is wondering if you can feel better – less angry, sad, anxious. More hopeful.
It can be very challenging to navigate through life with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. If you are looking for someone to help bring relief, I am here for you. I am able to provide support, and help you process your thoughts and feelings I can also share tangible coping strategies to help alleviate your concerns.

Life challenges us and our responses can vary widely. Sometimes, we are triggered. Other times, we are motivated to meet the challenge and overcome them. We can learn to be mindful and to choose our responses, by using past strengths to overcome difficulties or by learning new techniques. We can develop an awareness of our mind, body, and soul and the interconnections between them to develop new thought and behavioral patterns and rewire the brain for positive outcomes. We are all a work in progress and wherever you are in that journey is where we will start our collaboration.
Life can be challenging at times and I can help you navigate through the tougher moments. I will help you combat negative self talk, self defeating behaviors, or just plain and simple stress associated with day to day life. While helping you to embrace a calmer existence I will assist you in finding the awareness you desire to balance distinguishable areas of your life. I am experienced in working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, situational stressors, grief, and school- or work-related issues. My therapy approach is eclectic, consisting of Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strengths-Based Perspective.
All of us experience challenging times in our lives that can leave us feeling overwhelmed. The stresses of daily living, whether they are due to marriage, relationships, family, employment, death of a loved one, depression, or anxiety, can be challenging, and it is this that sometimes requires us to seek outside mental health counseling. As a trained and caring psychotherapist, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental counseling environment where I help people to resolve the issues and problems they have not yet been able to resolve on their own.
Joan Cade is a licensed psychoanalyst, parent counselor and early childhood educational and psychological consultant. For the treatment of depression and anxiety, Joan believes the benefits of talk therapy can be augmented by incorporating healthy practices such as sufficient sleep, aerobic exercise, breathing techniques, and good nutrition into one's daily life. Joan provides guidance to her patients to support them in implementing these practices.
Therapy with me is about reclaiming, unearthing, dismantling and essentially taking a sledgehammer to all the things in life that are no longer serving you or your relationships. I do relational work to help individuals, couples and other relational structures to figure out how to process, regulate, and articulate their feelings, improve communication and work through sexual challenges. I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy. I incorporate a variety of modalities from Narrative Therapy, CBT, EFT and Solution Focused, to name a few. Regardless of the modality I operate from a social justice, anti-racist, intersectional lens.
Feeling unfulfilled with certain aspects of your life? We’re often not aware of why we have these intense feelings or how to manage them. Overwhelming life experiences can contribute to negative beliefs about yourself. These experiences influence the way you perceive the world and impact those important to you. Together, we can alleviate the burden of such intense feelings.
As a clinical social worker, I know the relationship between client and therapist is the most important aspect of treatment. I provide a safe, trusting, supportive and nonjudgmental environment where together we can explore and work on reaching your goals. My passion is helping teens navigate the difficulties of adolescence. I am also dedicated to helping adults find relief from feeling stuck, depressed or anxious and who are searching for fulfillment and happiness.
People enter therapy for a variety of reasons; a crisis, a loss , a sense of disappointment about themselves or their lives. There are as many reasons as there are individuals but what unites them all is a need for relief from their pain. I believe that every individual has the ability to work through and overcome the obstacles that have kept them in destructive patterns in their lives. I have had over 25 years of experience working with people in recovery, their family members, and individuals struggling with depression and anxiety and individuals whose relationships don't ever seem to work out.
I am a Core Energetics Practitioner with a private practice working with mind/body/spirit consciousness. I am on faculty at "The Institute of Core Energetics", "Nyack Living Core" and "CoreEvolution". Core Energetics, is a marriage of Body Psychotherapy and Spiritual Development. The work brings consciousness to how we block our energy and recreate defense patterns adapted in childhood that keep us limited and disempowered. Core opens us to the fullness of our life-force, grounds us in the strength and integrity, and supports us in bringing our unique gifts as we engage in the world around us.
Asking for help and support is uncomfortable and a challenge that we all struggle with. I aim to create a space that you feel safe, supported and open to explore your challenges and move forward. With over ten years' experience, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals across the life span within various settings.
