After completing my undergraduate studies at Mercer University, I embraced the life of an entrepreneur. This journey brought many valuable insights that enhanced my understanding of human lived experiences. To a greater extent, this period heightened my ability to effectively connect and empathize with people of all walks of life. Over time I have adopted techniques from many disciplines within the field of psychotherapy. DBT, CBT and Solution Focused Therapy are those I most frequently employ. They offer much needed practical tools for patients in moments of acute crisis and provide the critical avenues to hope and motivation.

Using a style that encompasses CBT, attachment theory, the expressive arts, DBT, and more, I engage with individual clients in ways which foster their growth both personally and in relationships.
I am honored to help individuals struggling with fears and challenges that hinder their growth and exploration of life. My commitment to reach those who are experiencing great sadness and a lack of motivation in their lives helps me to understand my clients' alienation and pain. I take it as my duty to foster a relationship with those in need and reach them on their level. With couples, I use emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to help clients change their negative patterns and move to a new music where they yearn to support each other.

I use traditional talk therapy modalities (CBT, DBT and Solution Focus Therapy) combined with exploring holistic treatment methods.
I provide life transition therapy to women. This type of therapy helps you navigate the changes in your life. Life transitions can be both positive and negative, can be planned or unplan. Are you off to college, just got married or had a baby. Even these positive changes can be stressful. Are you getting a divorce, lost your job, or going through a breakup. Are you feeling overwhelmed by this new situation? Is the stress impacting your mental health, causing you anxiety and depression. Adapting to even planned life transitions can cause stress. The negative and unplanned situations can bring even more emotional disruptions.

Health and Wellness is my ideal client and I work actively with individuals and families to help create a "space" of peace and emotional stability. I think it is important to work collaboratively with clients because I believe they are their "OWN" best expert. My therapeutic orientation is mostly Rogerian and I utilize a non-directive and motivational interviewing approach to assist people in realizing their personal reasons for change. I implement various strategies that are solution focused and techniques associated with Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral therapy to address mood disorders, behavior problems, and thinking distortions.

I have extensive experience in evidence-based approaches, such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, which have been shown to be effective for these problems.
You're looking for treatment that will really help - more than what a friend could offer, more than just support and a listening ear. You're suffering with symptoms like intense anxiety, life-limiting fears, unwanted thoughts or memories, or sleepless nights, and you want something that offers healing, relief, and growth. Maybe you've tried this before, and it didn't work. Maybe you're at the end of your rope. You want - or really, truly need - a therapist who listens carefully, understands the problem, and helps you enact change to relieve your suffering, as soon as possible.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
