Associate Professional Counselor, APC, EMDR, IFS 1, TF-CBT
I enjoy working with adolescents and families as well as couples who desire to find help and resolution. My other focus is helping couples who want to understand and love their partner better to enhance their marriage; or couples, who are in conflictual relationships that are struggling with disconnection and isolation. My passion is to come alongside young men in the process of self-discovery to help grow in awareness of themselves by helping to bring resolution to problems such as pornography, anger, anxiety, depression, isolation, emotional dysregulation, loss and grief, and spiritual confusion.
I am not what you probably think of when you imagine a therapist. I will be in jeans and probably a casual shirt. I'm not going to jot a bunch of notes while we talk, or ask you to lay on the couch. I'm probably going to try to make you laugh at least once. We're going to get some work done in session, but it's not going to be as formal or awkward as you might expect from how working with a shrink is usually portrayed in movies and TV. (In addition to in-person sessions I offer remote counseling via video chat.)
Taking the first step to counseling is not an easy one. Be assured that the weight you’re carrying is not one that you’re meant to carry alone! You are made to be connected and to get from others support and guidance in times of loneliness and confusion. Let me be a voice of wisdom and guidance towards health and spark important dialogue that can disentangle your mind and emotions to take you to your goals. I have 12 years of experience working with different mental health issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships problems, and Christian counseling.
Do you feel stuck or like there is no way out of your current situation and the way you are feeling? Do you feel like there is no hope or feeling like your emotions are all over the place? Having a negative view of self? I work with others to guide and support them as they identify key elements needed to be addressed and worked on in order to move on with a healthier and peaceful life. Together we can work on achieving a more balanced lifestyle.
Everyone struggles in life. The key is to end the struggle by seeking guidance and advice from a trained, certified, and experienced professional life coach. I am here to listen and provide you with an objective analysis of your situation. I want to make you feel comfortable and encourage you to share your thoughts and concerns with me. Whether you are part of a group discussion or meeting me one-on-one, you will be at ease throughout the coaching session. I will offer you direction and together, we will set goals for you to accomplish. If you get stuck, I will motivate you to continue and come up with progressive avenues.
Educated and trained at Rutgers, Harvard, Savannah State, and the University of Pennsylvania, Michael Mack started his career over 25 years ago at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, where he focused in Structural Family Therapy (SFT) developed by Salvador Minuchin, a pioneer in child and adolescent therapy. In addition, he has been trained by the Beck Institute and Linehan Institute/Behavioral Tech in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I enjoy working with those clients who recognize that change can happen and is good. I enjoy working with individuals, families, couples and groups. Those who recognize that change depends on them, individually and collectively. I do not cause change but only facilitate the process. As we are all in the process of living and life can sometimes be very difficult, we can learn and change everyday. I can help you become the person you want to be, just as the chrysalis wants and does become a beautiful butterfly.
Life is complicated. How we deal with these complications will determine the level of contentment one will have. You may not be the cause of all that troubles you, but you are the only one who can come up with solutions for these problems that will work for you. My job is to help you discover what is the reason for your pain and help you deal with the causes. Each person is unique, there are no cookie cutter solutions. I take a client centered approach to therapeutic interventions to help support you within your particular life situation.
My clients seek my help because they are resilient. Suppose you find yourself stuck in a rut or shopping compulsively to ease pain and disappointment. Come to me spiritually broken, drained, tired, confused, angry, or in a toxic relationship, as we will find ways to heal together. Let me be a part of your village. My clients lived stories have created problems that have caused them to be stuck, but my therapy creates a safe space to re-create and find alternative stories or narratives that affirm positivity and joy. Free yourselves from unwanted pain, get unstuck, and choose joy!
I view therapy as an essential tool to help prioritize, care for, and learn about ourselves. I enjoy working with adults facing a range of challenges including anxiety, life transitions, depression, relationship challenges, identity development, family conflict, and aging and caregiving issues. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, my primary goal as a clinician is to create a space that facilitates free expression, highlights your natural abilities, and strengthens self-awareness and self-compassion.
I serve older teens and adults in individual, couples, and family counseling. By clearing emotional blocks and increasing self-awareness, clients become more resilient and equipped to find solutions to their life dilemmas. I describe myself as having a servant spirit and a nonjudgmental, strength-based approach in connecting with each unique person. It is my privilege and blessing to be a vessel for healing as I witness growth and transformation in those who seek healthy change for their lives.

Everyone else thinks you've got it all together. Inside, though, you feel like you have to fill a role to fit in your own life. You have to be perfect, maybe rehearse what you'll say ahead of time, and then tell yourself that no one cares about you since they can't get close enough to know the real you. You know how to appear confident but deep inside, there is this voice telling you that no one sees you. You crave the feelings of safety and acceptance. You want to feel connected to the people you love. Instead, you feel desperate to maintain control and feel stuck in painful relationships.
I see life as a journey and find my passion in accompanying individuals in their quest for a fulfilling and purposeful life. I have worked with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, addiction, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, and relationship issues, to name a few. I find my passion in creating a safe environment in which people feel valued, and comfortable sharing their experiences, struggles, hopes and dreams and where we can work together to create the life each person desires.
**Currently on a waitlist, not taking on new clients for about a month at this time** Through life’s transitions such as school or workplace stress, to relationship and family conflicts life is full of challenges that are sometimes out of our control. The pressure to manage and cope with these stressors can severely impact or be detrimental to ones mental health. Clients experiencing depression can make daily life activities seem unbearable, and it can significantly change how we see things almost as if wearing gloomy specs and disconnected from our environments.
I work best with clients that have decided that they are ready to make a change in their lives. These clients recognize that they have been struggling for quite some time and are finally at a point in their lives where they are ready to make some changes. Even if they aren't aware what those changes look like, they know that they need to start thinking differently. This is where I come in. I am here to help facilitate the growth, self awareness, and steps needed to produce these changes that will translate to self-actualization.
