SUNRISE COUNSELING CENTER (in 3 locations) has been serving our community for over 30 years. Now that the world has changed and we are all adjusting to a "new normal", people have now found our services to be an ESSENTIAL support, to discover peace and happiness once again! In addition, during these difficult times, the staff at SUNRISE COUNSELING CENTER would like to “give back” to our community by offering free consultations about both our psychotherapy (talk therapy) and psychiatric (medication management) services.

Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

Rize-Up Together was started by three women of The Bronx who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. Rize-Up Together began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

My clients seek insight and awareness and to affect change in their lives. I bring Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral and Problem Solving approaches and techniques to therapy. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an accelerated processing tool addressing trauma, anxiety and depression, and use EMDR in Family and Couples work and also with children. Families and Couples are offered structural and sytstemic approaches and interventions. Work with children provides Play Therapy and Social Skills Training with Behavioral interventions. I have strong advocacy skills in the educational and legal systems I enjoy the work with Individuals and Families, Adults and Children alike!

I am a clinician in both Connecticut and New York. I had extensive clinical experience working as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem, previously working in Therapeutic Foster Care and as a Psychotherapist. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Political Science from Central Connecticut State University and earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Saint Joseph. I have worked in various professional settings through direct practice and in social advocacy. I have worked alongside state non-profits in child welfare, as well as school base counseling and outpatient clinics.

I believe in meeting my clients where they are at, whether seeking help for the first time or wanting a new approach. I am a warm and attuned therapist who will actively listen to fully understand each individual’s history, current stressors, and goals, to provide authentic feedback, guidance, and tools to change unhealthy behaviors. My approach is strength-based, collaborative and is shaped to meet the needs of each client. I also hold a certificate in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Counseling (OCDCC).

Change can often be scary and/or difficult however necessary to achieve inner peace, counseling can help move forward the process to achieve mental health. Wellness is key and in our conversations I explore your values during counseling therapy sessions. We do explore all aspects of life that are important including physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual health. Typically our initial counseling sessions conversations are casual, it is a platform to ensure that I am the right fit for you.

Working with adolescents and young adults has always been my passion. As a former school counselor, I use my knowledge of the school system in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy to guide teens throughout their educational experience. With specializations in ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and LGBTQ, I work closely with each individual client to determine goals and create a realistic long-term plan.

Relationships, family issues, parenting, work, school, daily functioning, responsibilities, social struggles can all become difficult to cope with. Over the years I have done a great deal of positive work with, individuals,couples diversified groups, drug and alcohol, children, the elderly, and women/womens issues. I do pre and post operative assessments for gastric bypass individuals. My practice is dedicated to maximizing the individuals I work with in all areas of their life, to produce absolute positivity and eliminate negative behaviors/conflicts. I practive from a cognitive point of view. I welcome all persons and take medicare and most forms of insurance.
