I am a psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience. Therapy with me is a process of deepening your understanding of yourself through a series of conversations that will help you identify the root of your problems and their effect on your life. Understanding the root of your problems will help you make changes in your life. Some of our conversations may be about things you 'know' about while at other times, you will be surprised. Together we will explore and make sense of how your life has unfolded and look at what works and doesn't work about your life.

Give counselling a try, it can be life changing.
My passion is to walk with people as they navigate through difficult and confusing times. My multidisciplinary education in science, philosophy, religion, psychology and psychotherapy allows me to look at the person and their life from a holistic perspective. Sometimes we need counseling because we are stuck and don’t know how to move forward. Other times we need it to learn healthy skills to prevent us from falling into some difficult and stressful situations. Whether you’re dealing with depression, an addiction, a relationship conflict or a variety of other issues, I’d love to assist you understanding and resolution.

I provide an active, warm and effective style of therapy and coaching that is responsive to you and firmly rooted in evidence of what works.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious or burnt out, finding yourself on edge, down, and doubting yourself? You may worry about things you have said or done "wrong" in a day. It's hard to say no - to find the time and energy to take care of your needs. You may feel guilty more often than not. There may be a sense, even when things are seemingly going well, that you may have overlooked something or something "bad" is around the corner. Do you question if you're the problem - that something is wrong with you and that you just can't hack it? Whether others know or it or not, you just don't feel that comfortable in your own skin.

So you're feeling stuck. You're so good at intellectualizing things but it's hard to slow down and make space for your emotions. You know the familiar back and forth between doing everything all at once or not being able to get up from the couch. The anxiety, perfectionism, uncertainty, body image, worries, and internal clutter cloud your mind. Sometimes it all feels like too much to handle, so you numb out. Still, you want to understand your patterns and process your past. You are ready to put in the work.

Is anxiety undermining your ability to enjoy yourself and feel safe in your relationships, at work, even in your own thoughts? Are you tired of feeling alert and tense all the time, not being able to stop that voice that keeps warning you of dangers and criticising your every step? Do you fear failure, rejection and abandonment? Are constant fights and lack of trust making your relationship or marriage a source of pain and frustration? Are you struggling with the emotional stress of facing infertility?

With 15 years of experience as the head counsellor at The Michener Institute, I offer professional support for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and family challenges. My use of both Gestalt Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) gives me a wide range of options for support for both individual and couples. Gestalt focuses on the 'here and now,' our body experiences and childhood patterns and helps us be present in our relationships. CBT has been rigorously tested in over 1000 studies, and is a therapy that supports depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), panic and anxiety, phobias and stress.

Most importantly, I am happy and proud of my life now.
My passion is preventing van attacks and granting people who wish to have kids the ability to do so. However, therapy rarely works for men. I dropped out of high school because of my mental health. This was the start of 3 years of not doing school or work, spending all day addicted to League of Legends, K-pop, masturbating, and binge eating, causing me to be overweight. I had 0 friends or love life due to my crippling anxiety and depression.

Life Coaching Counsellors

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
