I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a decade of experience with a wide variety of clients. As far as I remember, nothing has ever fascinated me more than humans; their interactions; their mentality and how they grasp the universe. I knew far too young what I was made to do and am thrilled to be in the very profession I can see myself in for the rest of my life.

We all have times in our lives when we know something is wrong, even if we don’t know what it is. You might feel off-balance, low energy, not yourself. Often you feel like you want to talk about what’s happening with someone, even if you aren't yet clear about it. You want to be able to talk with someone who won’t judge you, who won’t second guess your experiences, or try to explain them away, or try to rewrite your story for you. You want to be able to talk with someone who will listen without an agenda. Someone who can provide understanding and compassion, patience and authenticity. Let's talk.

Feeling anxiety in relationships? You don’t feel seen and heard. You’re stuck between different cultures, norms, and expectations. Unprocessed events and trauma can show up as overwhelm, depression, conflicts with others, lack of boundaries, codependency, and low self-confidence and self-esteem. This can include something that happened within a small circle such as family and romantic relationships or systemic trauma such as discrimination. In my therapy, I will help you connect with yourself better and make the changes you want in your life, to arrive at a peaceful place and live an authentic life.

Life can be overwhelming, unfair and full of the unexpected. As we seek change in our own behaviour and circumstances, we are often met with unexpected pain, anxiety, and anger that can be difficult to manage. Psychotherapy is a process in which we address obstacles in life and set goals to healing, understanding and moving forward. There is not challenge in life, big or small, that doesn't deserve the thoughtful reflection of therapy. I work with various presenting concerns, including issues with: anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, loneliness, self-esteem, processing break-ups, stress, burn-out, chronic pain and trauma.

I would like to invite you into a non-judgmental, nurturing, and anti-oppressive space, where we can work together to address the challenges in your life. Sometimes life can bring hardship and unexpected events, which can produce negative feelings and emotions. Some of these challenges require less support to process and work through, while others may take longer and require more frequent support to overcome. As your therapist, my goal is to understand you, your needs, and guide you to cope with or overcome the difficulties interfering with your everyday life.

Deciding to seek therapy is not always easy and commend you for doing that today. It takes courage to decide to start exploring and unpacking what we are experiencing and develop a healthy sense of agency over our well-being. I would describe Psychotherapy as an Awakening. It is the path to self-love, and this can only be achieved by looking inside, getting in touch, getting to know, and accepting ourselves. This unconditional acceptance of who we are is the key to achieving significant changes in our lives and thus improving our mental health.

In my private practice as an expressive arts therapist I use the arts along with conversation and reflection, to help clients get ‘unstuck,’ uncover resources for change and growth, live with suffering when necessary and celebrate the joy of life as we humans always have -- by making meaning through making art. Increasingly, I also draw on Internal Family Systems (working with our "parts") to support and inform a safe and effective healing environment. I work with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, creative blocks, eating disorders, physical illness, grief, trauma and sexual abuse.

My approach is eclectic, best summed up as philosophically-grounded, psychoanalytically-oriented, mindfulness-based, trauma-informed and co-active. I work with individuals and couples who are looking to live more freely and love more fully. They may be experiencing a lack of motivation, relationship difficulties, or conflict within themselves that leads them to feel stuck. They need time and space to figure out who they really are and what they're all about, so they can move more confidently through life, with a greater sense of purpose and commitment. Ultimately, they want to realize their full potential.

In my work as a Registered Psychotherapist, I aim to understand what’s happening that has brought you to therapy, what you’re looking to get out of therapy, and patterns that might be holding you back. Together we’ll dig deep to explore underlying thoughts, feelings and behaviours to better learn what’s going on. Wherever you’re at, I provide a dedicated, safe space to be yourself, to dig deep, and to find pathways to move forward with a greater sense of authenticity, ease and understanding.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
