With 15 years of experience as the head counsellor at The Michener Institute, I offer professional support for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and family challenges. My use of both Gestalt Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) gives me a wide range of options for support for both individual and couples. Gestalt focuses on the 'here and now,' our body experiences and childhood patterns and helps us be present in our relationships. CBT has been rigorously tested in over 1000 studies, and is a therapy that supports depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), panic and anxiety, phobias and stress.
From a Gestalt perspective, our most valuable resource is our ability to develop, boundary, maintain and build healthy relationships. This extends from family and loved ones, to colleagues and strangers. We are relational. At the core, our ability to manage relationships is one of our primary tasks in the world.
On a personal level, I have been described by others as kind, insightful, intelligent and direct. My students and former individual and couple's clients have noted my strong ability to empathize and to listen, and to create a very safe and comfortable space.
