I draw largely from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness based approaches, and I stay current with relevant advances in neuropsychology which impact psychotherapy.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the field I strive to provide informed and evidence based treatment to clients of diverse backgrounds in a safe, supportive, and accepting environment. Therapy is a unique experience in which we can create the space that we don't often make for ourselves otherwise to stay with and explore our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I recognize that seeking support can be difficult and I truly value the positive feedback my clients have provided regarding their feelings of comfort and safety in their work with me.

My approach to psychological healing is integrative, mixing psychodynamic, mind/body, transpersonal, mindfulness, and CBT approaches to psychotherapy. My philosophy of therapy stresses respect for the client and the client’s experience. Therapy often involves the exploration of family of origin issues and the impact of old conditioning on current functioning. I also emphasize the importance of developing existing personal strengths and resources. I often use a personality system called the Enneagram to clarify client strengths and issues. I have expertise in mindfulness. See my website, www.musiccitytherapy.com.

I love to incorporate art and mindfulness in my sessions when appropriate.
My passion in this work is to help those who struggle to find their voice and authentic self due to obstacles like trauma, anxiety, grief, OCD, low self-esteem, etc. These obstacles I named often become blinders and part of the identity as one encounters life transitions and forming relationships with others. My job is to sit with, listen to, and help guide him/her back to their true self where they can feel safe and at home.

I use dialectical behavior therapy skills in mindfulness meditation, emotion regulation, and communication to help you get your mind, emotions, and body on the same page.
Imagine having healthier relationships, balanced emotions, and better boundaries. You might be dealing with problems in your relationships with your spouse, family, or friends. You are a “people pleaser” who can't say no and often puts yourself on the backburner. You may say “I don’t deal well with emotions” or feel like your emotions get the best of you. After a recent life change or relationship issue, such as a difficult marriage, motherhood, or divorce, you may feel like you don’t know who you are any more. Let's find YOU again. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationships, I am here to help.

Counseling may include a combination of experiential, EMDR, mindfulness, parts work, and/or solution-focused therapy.
Whether you are new to therapy and/or recovery, or are struggling with new obstacles or relapse, welcome. Sometimes part of us wants to make a change and part of us holds us back. Sometimes we can connect the dots to our past and sometimes it feels less clear why we feel and react the way we do. And when we are feeling stuck, we can feel feel anxious, overwhelmed, disoriented or uncertain. Know it is possible to move through the discomfort and regain our sense of empowerment. Our process may feel at times like a struggle but we don't have to go through it alone.

I draw from traditional therapeutic modalities, as well as somatic and mindfulness based practices to best help individuals align and integrate their minds, bodies, and spirits.
Part of the reason I was drawn to this profession is because therapy has been an invaluable tool in my own life. Being a human is hard work and none of us get it out of it unscathed. I believe that we could all benefit from having an opportunity and a space to put words to our fears, doubts, emotions, and beliefs and to help us gain clarity on what is serving us and what is holding us back.
