I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups around psychosocial and medical health issues. I am a Colorado and Washington State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. The psychosocial conditions I provide treatment for include: addictions/compulsions, anxiety and depression, abuse and trauma, marriage/relationship issues, health and wellness, spirituality/faith issues, identity development issues, and sexuality. I believe a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to health is the most comprehensive method of treatment.

For 20+ years, I have enjoyed working with a diverse population of all ages from a variety of backgrounds. My clients have shaped how I practice. I work from a cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-informed foundation. I help clients develop and integrate new patterns into their lives that can bring them out of crisis, enhance their lives, and help them transition into their 'new normal'. I encourage clients to focus on what they can control, to activate in positive ways, and to problem solve. I'm chronically optimistic, and like to integrate humor and fun into sessions.

I have over twenty years of experience working with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, family, grief, and finding personal meaning. More specific to me, I have specialties working with spiritual issues. I have written two books on psychology and spirituality.

I have clients that come to therapy for a wide range of issues. Most often, client goals begin with relief from pain, sadness, guilt, shame, confusion, addiction and many other symptoms related to distress. I have found that many clients who seek therapy are surprised to learn how past and present are related and how someone can influence future through choice, meaning, and intentional use of personal strengths. I am passionate about keeping the therapeutic relationship collaborative and empathic, while striving to weave empirical interventions with hope and perseverance.

My ideal client is someone who is struggling from anxiety, depression, and/or the effects of past trauma. I have a special passion and training to work with those who have undergone spiritual abuse/trauma, which is any harmful use of power and control experienced within a faith tradition.
