Existential confusion, feelings of dread, unconscious repetition of patterns, angst, ennui, despair. Ideally, you're interested in generating a sense of inner stability, a beachhead of calm in the middle of the chaos that the mind can produce when unbalanced and disconnected from its harmony and natural balance.

Accepting New Clients! My primary focus is working with young adults who are struggling with the challenges of emerging into adulthood while also battling depression, anxiety, mood instability, and other such symptomology. However, I also work with all ages of adults. My approach is to assist clients with developing insight into themselves and their surroundings while increasing coping and life skills through Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which decrease these symptoms and increase quality of life.

I specialize in working with adults and adolescents who struggle with body image distress, disordered eating, and substance abuse/misuse. Individuals who suffer from disordered eating and addiction tend to also experience high levels of shame, self-criticism, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and history of trauma which all perpetuate the illness. Addiction and eating disorders are not disorders of lacking control, but disorders of unmet needs.

I believe that counseling is a journey that allows you, often for the first time, the opportunity to be fully seen. It is through this safe relationship that you can reveal your entire self, including the parts of you that hold the most shame. This brave dive into the deep, painful parts of yourself can allow you to gain compassion for your own humanness and begin to heal.

I often hear parents say things such as “I love my child but I’m not enjoying being around them anymore” or “I can’t get any alone time because my child always needs to be with me”. Do you ever wish there was a manual for parenting? Have you tried everything but nothing seems to work to manage their behavior or anxiety? Does your child have a chronic health condition that is becoming overwhelming to manage? Maybe parenting is confusing and no longer feels fulfilling. You’re in the right place. You’ve already taken a step toward feeling confident in parenting and managing the challenges of life.

If you struggle and remain unhappy I'm glad you'd consider letting someone help. Suffering is a serious matter. People suffer from many different and individual reasons such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, addictions, or histories of abuse, neglect or trauma. Many people suffer with issues related to sexuality (being gay, lesbian, sexually-addicted, HIV+, etc.) Shame is a damaging experience for anyone (gay or straight) and needs to be addressed head on for change. There is hope. Together, we can figure out the best road ahead. Happiness matters. That is true for everyone, including you.

I am a child therapist at Anxiety Solutions of Denver specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD. Most of the children and families I come into contact with have found the lack of available anxiety and OCD specialists discouraging. To add to their frustration, the lack of anxiety and OCD specialists who specifically work with children is even more apparent. I not only find a sense of fulfillment in providing effective treatment to those in need, but also feel lucky to be able to facilitate optimism and security with my clients in knowing they are in competent hands.

There are times in all of our lives that we need someone to talk to. Counseling can be a powerful resource in dealing with past hurts, trauma's, processing important life decisions, relationships and so much more. No matter what it is, you deserve to have someone walk with you in the journey of life. It is my belief that we are made up of mind, body and spirit and that we all desire to move towards being the best version of ourselves.

Are you looking for a therapeutic approach that is different than what you might be used to? Are you ready to explore the root of the problem that is continuing to cause you the symptoms you are struggling with? By using approaches such as, Art Therapy, EMDR, Parts work and Reiki I can offer you something in addition to talk therapy. EMDR and Art Therapy are both "bottom up" approaches that target areas of the brain that shut down during a traumatic event(s). Reiki is a spiritual/energetic approach that is often referred to as a "massage for the soul".

I view therapy as a collaborative, interactive process that can powerfully foster change and promote repair. I enjoy helping individuals understand themes that echo through their lives, broaden their sense of self, build emotional flexibility, and develop meaningful relationships. I work to foster curiosity and empower individuals to develop authenticity, autonomy, and self-compassion. I also strive to playfully challenge unproductive beliefs and explore the function of behaviors. I received my master's degree in 2009 and PsyD in 2012 from the University of Denver.

How can I find a therapist in Denver?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
