We all experience times of trial and difficulties throughout our lives. Sometimes it seems as though we will never feel happy again. By choosing counseling, you are investing in yourself. Changing your way of thinking and beginning a new journey towards healing.
Do you struggle feeling connected and close to others? Do you struggle with worry or stress? Do you sometimes lose sleep, become unfocused or distracted, or is being present and calm around other people challenging? The work I do with clients centers around learning how to feel calm and connected again. Sometimes, after a period of struggle (like a loss, divorce, or extended work stress), we can forget what it was like to not struggle. To find that calm again, to reclaim who we used to be, can help us move forward.
I have clients that come to therapy for a wide range of issues. Most often, client goals begin with relief from pain, sadness, guilt, shame, confusion, and often many other symptom(s) prior to the onset of seeking therapy. I have found that many clients who seek therapy are surprised to learn how past relates to present and how someone can influence their future through choice and meaning. I am passionate about keeping the therapeutic relationship collaborative and empathic, while striving to include hope and perseverance.

As a therapist I believe in creating a calm space that allows for processing and growth. This in addition to addressing any underlying barriers to one's full potential in a way that respects where a person is right in the moment. Also I strive for a space that is mindful of honoring social, cultural, economic and spiritual differences and likenesses that focus on growth.
Research shows that the number one key factor to living a long life is directly related to one’s feeling of connectedness with others. Yet, a quarter us feel as though we have no one to talk to. It’s biologically imperative to know that we belong, matter and feel seen and heard. Therapy helps people (sometimes for their first time ever) to feel understood and have their reality/experiences validated in a safe, nonjudgmental and accepting way. I use strengths-based, person-centered, CBT, mindfulness, and somatic techniques to help you work towards understanding your problems, and finding solutions.
You are enough just as you are. I believe that wholeheartedly. I imagine you are here because you or someone in your life believes that it is possible to unlock more joy, security, love, connection, and/or peace. Most of our hurt comes through relationships and I believe that our healing will come in relationship - an intentional and open relationship as in a therapeutic relationship. If you are looking to improve your ability to be in relationship with yourself or loved ones, reach out to me for a free consultation. I am an expert at being with people, making space for them and their story, and working to accomplish their goals.
"We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to."-Brene Brown. I whole heartedly believe that healing occurs when we invite others to step into our story and walk along side us in times of struggle, hurt, and unknown. Because of this, I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to join you in your search for healing and wholeness. Although I am equipped to work with individuals in any stage of life I am especially passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults struggling with anything from anxiety and depression to trauma and self discovery.
I help families of teens go from worry and anxiety to renewed connection and happiness. We all want our kids to be happy, and it’s hard to watch them struggle. Our teens face the same adolescent challenges we did (intense emotions & feeling "different," without having the long-range view adulthood brings)--but they also navigate the additional stress of violence (school shootings), grief (rising suicide rates), exposure (social media) and non-stop accessibility (smartphones + internet). While our teens wrestle with anxiety and feel alone, parents worry they could lose their kid to depression, mental health issues, or even suicide.
Every one of us experiences seasons in life when we feel completely overwhelmed by our circumstances and are unable to just "shake it off." This might be especially true in the aftermath of a crisis, a stressful event or traumatic experience (such as loss of a job, the death of a loved one, a broken relationship, an accident). Have you ever found yourself longing for someone to understand your feelings of grief, anger, sadness and confusion in the midst of such a situation? Someone to help you get back to "normal?" You are not alone; there is someone here who will listen, encourage, and walk right beside you in your darkest hours.
I have firsthand experience with how nerve-wracking it can be to begin therapy, whether it is for the first time or with a new therapist. I prioritize creating a safe and welcoming environment for clients. I believe that the depth of healing that is possible through therapy makes it a risk worth taking, but the approach and temperament of the therapist is undeniably important. That is why I strive to provide each client with the individualized support they need to make the changes they want to make in their life. With the proper support and resources, I believe that every person can seek the healing they desire.
Life does not always go according to plan. We experience many things that are outside of our control, but they leave a lasting impact on us as human beings. Life is a journey that is not meant to be walked alone, but instead in relationships and with vulnerability and openness. Therapy is an opportunity to build skills and resources to process and navigate life's everyday challenges. Asking for help and finding someone to share your burden with is a great show of strength and courage! For the quickest response please visit my web page and fill out a contact form.
Not afraid of humor as well as difficult feelings, I work with people who want to get back in touch with what's most important to them to feel more connected to themselves and others. I love helping people identify their "Why bother?" such as "Why bother with trying to work less, exercise more, drink or vape less, or feel difficult feelings more?" Negative thinking, anxiety, and increased drinking and other behaviors can be invitations to re-evaluate if you're pursuing the kind of life you desire. I'm here to help you get to the root of concerns, clarify your values, understand the purpose of barriers, and celebrate progress!
Making changes can be scary and starting therapy is no different. It can be stressful even thinking about talking to a stranger; however, therapy can also be exciting! I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic space and believe therapy can be a great place to begin identifying or working on your life goals.

Welcome! I am happy you are here taking the first courageous step towards seeking support. Finding a therapist with whom you can build a meaningful relationship is an integral part of the process. My goal at A Healing Heart Therapy is to help individuals and families heal, become aware of their inner strengths and improve communication and connection. I offer a compassionate, safe space to share your story, heal from pain, grow from struggles and to create positive change in your life. While I specialize in children and adolescents, I also enjoy working with adults.
Are you seeking an evaluation to better understand your child's (or your own) struggles? Do they have advanced verbal skills, but struggle with learning? Have teachers expressed concerns about their focus or behavior at school? Perhaps your child has emotional outbursts after a long day at school, or seems to have very uneven development in different abilities. If you wonder if you or your child has ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or another learning disability, we can help with expert testing. Or if your child shows signs of giftedness and you want to enroll them in a gifted program or school, we provide IQ testing to help with this.
Ready to stop feeling overwhelmed, lost, or powerless? Through nature based therapy with horses, the environment or in a garden, you can begin to grow out of the patterns that aren't serving you any more, reduce anxiety and empower you to make the changes you are ready for. My work as a nature based therapist reconnects you to your environment, the people in your life, and to yourself.
