I have been working with individuals and groups since 2000. I am an expert in treating substance abuse and anger management. I am comfortable treating a diverse range of people suffering from anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD, and relationship problems. I mostly use cognitive behavioral therapy and therapeutic horsemanship to resolve issues. I offer parenting and anger management classes. I am a very patient and optimistic individual.

I have over 33 years experience treating depression and anxiety. I believe that depression/anxiety often has root causes from childhood abuse of a verbal, sexual or physical nature or perhaps regrets resulting from your own choices. I have successfully treated all kinds of PTSD, post abortion syndrome, sexual identity issues, anger, and grief through loss. I help married women to learn to live with difficult husbands when divorce is not their option. I help couples to resolve conflict and learn to live in love and respect.

I know that asking for help can be a difficult process especially when it comes to the mental health of your child. We have all had times in our lives when we and/or our kids needed extra support to be healthier. I am a Private Practice Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist (aka: I have a lot of training and experience counseling kids). I enjoy helping kids who struggle with attachment issues and/or have experienced trauma which is why I am trained in the two evidenced based trauma therapy treatments (TFCBT and EMDR) and in Theraplay Level 1 to grow relational attachment. My name is Erin Chilson, and I have my Master’s degree in counseling from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. I have had the honor of conducting professional counseling services since 2007 as an Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I consider myself to be a mental health clinician. Client empowerment, rapport building, and a unique ability to teach clients to unlearn unhealthy coping skills and to relearn healthy coping skills are my strengths. Strong focus is given to emotional regulation and assessing emotional dis-regulation symptoms in clients. The use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the treatment orientation I use the most with my clients.
