I want you to know what it’s like to live a life of healing. If you feel like you are drowning, overwhelmed, exhausted, or resentful - I can help. Together we will roll up our sleeves and get to work. It will get a little messy, but I’m not scared of the mess. I will support you while you learn to love the things you have previously hidden. Your pain, your thoughts, and your behaviors can all make sense when we explore them with kind curiosity. It is time to take off the shackles of your past, and live tomorrow more free than you were yesterday.
Welcome to Roots of Integrity Counseling, LLC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri. Taking the first step toward healing takes a great deal of courage, and I want to applaud you on taking a step toward making yourself and your wellbeing a priority. It is a true privilege to support you throughout this journey. I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and validated. I believe in the 3 C’s: Challenge. Choice. Change. – Challenge by Choice. Challenge creates Change. Choose the Challenge.
I have a true passion for working with older adults and caregivers. I have worked with this population both in residential and community settings. I also have experience working in substance abuse and with individuals living with chronic illness. I enjoy not only individual work, but also working with couples and families to initiate and maintain change within the family system. Some issues I commonly work with include: depression, grief and loss, spirituality, life review, caregiver stress, interpersonal relationship problems, and anxiety.
Does the stress of everyday life feel like "too much?" Do you find yourself struggling with anxiety, excessive worrying, panic attacks, or shame? Do these issues pour over into other areas in your life such as your marriage or work? If any of these things sound like something you experience, then you've likely found the right therapist! Its time you found the strength to surrender these feelings and begin to feel empowered to make brave changes.
If you need a warm, supportive environment where you can feel safe to explore, learn, and make changes, you've come to the right place! I work with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds in a compassionate manner focusing on improving communication, recovering from past trauma, and developing effective strategies for stress/coping. I am directive at times and will challenge you to take on new perspectives and try out new behaviors, but at a pace that is comfortable to you. I use cognitive-behavioral techniques, role-playing, goal-setting, exposure/response prevention, assertiveness training, play therapy, and others. I also offer the convenience of video or telehealth therapy services.
I specialize in three types of clients- Women and Men who are dealing with infidelity, individuals experiencing the effects of trauma, and those who are struggling with anxiety and depression related to life’s changes and challenges. As someone who has experienced each of these scenarios at some point in my life, I have learned some helpful tools to help you find the guidance you need. I believe each of us has a purpose, each of us matters, and is here for a reason. I am honored to give YOU the tools you need in your journey.
There's this lingering sense of negativity, self-doubt, and not being good enough. Stress is accumulating and the demands you're facing are outweighing your resources. Your drive to reach goals, connect with others, and enjoy life is declining. You notice that same cycle of perfectionism, anxiety, and shame repeating itself, causing you to feel trapped, overwhelmed, and powerless. It's not just affecting your mind. It's also taking a toll on your body and your relationships. Avoid the burnout. Make a choice to make a change.
I have been in practice for 20 years. I do not "fit" my clients into a particular therapy. I use what treatment helps each of my clients. The therapy sessions belong to my clients, not to me. My clients know themselves better than I or anyone else wil know them. My "job" is to help my clients learn to help themselves and apply what they have gained in therapy to the rest of their lives.
I have significant experience working with high school and college age students with their individual issues and helping their families work through family conflicts that arise during these developmental years. In the process of this, I have worked extensively with persons experiencing anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, identity issues, self-harm, bullying and interpersonal conflict. By virtue of working with families in these developmental stages, I also am asked to do pre-marital and marital therapy for a variety of age groups.
I specialize in treating anxiety and depressive disorders, traumatic stress related disorders, and life threatening behaviors. I am trained in evidence based practices including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, and Prolonged Exposure. During treatment, we will work to create a therapeutic alliance through vulnerability, self determinism, and truth.
I specialize in couples, working with those experiencing conflict, conflict-avoidance, infidelity/trust issues, communication problems, parenting/co-parenting struggles, and or when one or both partners experience depression, anxiety, or trauma. Relationships are the most important things in our lives, and when we get disconnected, everything in life can feel so much harder. I also see individuals who are struggling with self-worth issues, excessive worry, and past history of trauma. Therapy can do a world of good, especially when life has been painful. I am dedicated to the therapy process, and help clients find hope and relief.
Finding "Calm in Chaos" is an overarching theme in my counseling practice, my court appointed high conflict co-parenting sessions, expert witness testimony in family, civil, and federal court cases, as well as in my executive and life coaching practice. Conflict is prevalent today in our personal and professional lives. With so much uncertainty I found it imperative to develop a 'Mental Health Urgent Care' counseling model. In a quest to immediately address unexpected trauma, I offer sessions three days per week rooted in a medical triage model. This permits those with critical needs to not have to wait months for a session.
Arie Baker utilizes a non-judgmental and empowering approach that helps clients build skills and recognize their internal strengths. She provides a warm and welcoming environment to process your experiences and life's difficulties.
Life can be difficult. It is important to look at these difficult times as just a chapter of your story. It is how we push through, learn, and grow that shapes the novel of our life. Sometimes we need help navigating how this do. My experience comes from excellent training and having had the privilege to work with amazing clients over the years. As every individual and their experiences in life are different, their therapy and treatment should be based on what works best for them. This is why I use an integrated approach to therapy.
I specialize in working with adults and couples that may be experiencing grief, depression, burnout, anxiety, trauma, marital/relational crisis and conflict, and divorce recovery. Helping clients to transition from one point in their lives to the next. Assisting clients to find harmony and balance within their situation is my goal.
For the last fifteen years, it has been my privilege to walk with clients throughout the challenges and suffering in their lives, helping them discover healing from past and present pain. Using compassion, care and gentle challenge, I seek to assist clients in experiencing this healing within themselves and to restore relationships with others. I see mainly adolescent and adult clients. Many of the clients I see are processing issues related to abuse, relationship challenges, adjustment difficulties to life transitions, singleness, depression, anxiety, spiritual concerns, family of origin issues, and grief.
Anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, and major life changes are just a few of the reasons many people struggle. If you find that you are ready for a resolution to problems in your life, I can help you achieve the changes you want. I have been a licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 2004, and I am ready to work with you to make change a reality. I have experience with teens, couples, and adults of all ages. I am excited every time I see a client push through what's holding them back, and become empowered to live a more fulfilling life.

As a therapist I believe the answers we seek are within ourselves and it takes courage to find them. I want to support and guide people on their journeys to find answers and help them lead more fulfilling lives. I counsel children, adolescents, adults, and families. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as Person-Centered techniques when working with clients. I am also certified in play therapy and use play as one method, when working with children, to communicate, explore, and express feelings.
