"I believe that change often involves new ways of thinking, understanding and constructively dealing with emotions, taking new actions, learning new patterns of relating and developing a hopeful attitude. I also believe in using a collaborative process directed toward working through a problem in effort to enhance one's ability to achieve enjoyment and satisfaction in life".
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, SAP, NCC, ESMHL
I have been working with individuals and groups since 2000. I am an expert in treating substance abuse and anger management. I am comfortable treating a diverse range of people suffering from anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD, and relationship problems. I mostly use cognitive behavioral therapy and therapeutic horsemanship to resolve issues. I offer parenting and anger management classes. I am a very patient and optimistic individual.
I enjoy working with people who are experiencing difficult life issues, often related to relationships and/or cultural expectation of who they "should" be. I support individuals, couples, and families who are stuck in a moment of confusion, grief, hopelessness, or despair, helping them figure out how to manage difficult challenges. I particularly appreciate opportunities to work with those in the process of exploring gender identity and sexual orientation, racial identity, and acute life/work crises such as grief, loss, and other traumas, including critical events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Have you ever just felt..stuck? Almost like no matter what you try to change or improve, you just feel like your wheels are spinning, and you are exhausted. My ideal client is someone who is just ready to feel better. They may not exactly know what is going on or why they are feeling the way that they do, all they know is that they just..want..to..feel..better. Whether it be life transitions, identity, overwhelming anxiety, perfectionism, intense emotions or resolving some trauma, you deserve the space to build and grow your confidence to navigate this scary world.
Invest some time in you; let me help guide you in getting to the core of what is driving all of that anxiety, sadness, or guilt. Maybe there is something that has been bothering you for a long time. Something you thought would go away, or something people would tell you to just "get over", but only gets worse. What is that roadblock that is keeping you from feeling your best (or like your old self)? I promise you, we can find it. I offer a free phone consultation, and I look forward to hearing how I can help you.

Everyone faces struggles in life, sometimes the suffering and distress push us beyond our capacity to cope in helpful ways. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or the wounds of trauma, reaching out for support is a great first step toward improved wellbeing. A trusting therapeutic relationship fosters an environment in which you are received and accepted just as you are in this moment. I provide a warm, and supportive space that honors your inherent strength and natural ability to heal. I am dedicated to providing high-quality care that is tailored your unique life experience.

As an Integrative Therapist, I bring together the whole person- emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physiological and spiritual dimensions of each individual client for lasting change. Incorporating practical neuroscience to improve neurobiology, emotional regulation, calming the mind & body, reducing anxiety and fear. Bridging the gap between where you are today and your best- authentic self is the mission. Helping clients reduce and eliminate traumatic memories, automatic negative thoughts and rumination, patterns of self-defeating behaviors, and subconscious mechanisms is the primary goal.
My theory is to promote positive reinforcement. Choices should be used to provide a model for understanding human emotions, behaviors and thoughts. Understanding choices in decision making will give you the encouragement to move forward.
I began my career providing counseling services in a substance abuse treatment center and have continued to specialize in these issues. Substance abuse and addiction are confusing to those that suffer from this disease and their families. I have learned over many years that no one is immune to mental health stress, trauma, addiction, OR from recovery and wellness. Expert couples counseling requires expert training. The Gottman Method is taught in three levels and I completed all three in 2017. My intensive couples approach is successful in improving communication and usually provides results in a reasonable time frame.
You have goals, wishes, and desires – and challenges that get in the way of your reaching them. The therapeutic framework creates a space for you to come to know yourself in a new way, discovering your many strengths.

From the very beginning, with sensitivity and compassion, I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space in which you can express thoughts, feelings, dreams, and desires that you may feel unable to share elsewhere. I believe that constructive change occurs when we work collaboratively to develop insight into your current struggles; only then can we find ways to help you move forward. I have experience and interest in working with individuals with anxiety, trauma histories, creative people, and those who wish to explore various aspects of their identities, including folks who are LGBTQ+.
Beginning with a new therapist can be anxiety provoking. It's difficult to know who the "right" therapist will be for you. My focus will be getting to know you and what your goals are for therapy. I enjoy teaching coping skills to manage anxiety and depressive symptoms. I also am a Certified Grief Counselor. I understand the grieving process and how to help support you through this transition. Grieving isn't only seen with death but also with loss of marriage, home, job, friendship, etc. My practice is located on a lake where we can practice mindfulness exercises and focus on calming energy.
