I lead professional trainings and workshops on AS, ADHD and 2E and have created the Indy Women's Autism Marital Support Group (IWAMS). I have spoken at many women's groups and retreats addressing specific issues most relevant to women.

I enjoy helping neurodiverse individuals improve their mental health and navigate challenges such as late ADHD or Autism diagnosis. Since 2000, O'Brien Psychological Services has provided psychological evaluations. He currently has two locations (Indianapolis and Kokomo). Dr. O'Brien is particularly interested in psychological evaluations and consultation but, from time to time, he will accept clients for psychotherapy services. His assessment clients have included, but are not limited to, the following: psychiatric hospitals, bariatric surgery patients, international adoption clients, juvenile courts, medical practices, autism treatment centers, other mental health professionals, and various state and federal agencies. As a licensed clinical psychologist and health service provider in psychology, I provide psychological services for children and adolescents ranging from preschool age to the end of the high school years. These services include individual and family therapy services and psychological evaluations. I assist children and adolescents with various issues including depression, anxiety, anger management, stress management, self esteem concerns, ADHD, learning problems, autism spectrum disorder, grief issues, behavior problems, and relationship difficulties with family members and peers.

I provide therapeutic services for children and teens. I have worked at alternative schools, inpatient hospitals, and residential treatment facilities. I am a staunch advocate for youth, and have extensive knowledge of psychiatric medication for children and teens. I am comfortable working with a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, childhood trauma, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. I utilize sensory integration therapy to help children self-sooth and enhance their independence. I enjoy working with children and families in crisis. I also work with young adults and college students.

Jay is currently working with Dr. Spencer Booth, PsyD, HSPP to provide timely compassionate assessment for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, depressive disorder, and more. He is a compassionate, person-centered therapist. He specializes in assessment, cognitive behavioral therapy and task-centered therapy addressing anxiety, depression, and maladaptive behaviors, including addictions. Jay utilizes art-based interventions designed to help clients connect with their creative selves. Jay is a welcoming, affirming therapist for LGBTQ clients.

While I see some adults for therapy, my education and experience has focused primarily on child and adolescent issues for the past 40+ years. I evaluate and treat kids 2 years and older, teens, and their families for a variety of issues. I collaborate with parents in obtaining services their child may need at school. I am practical and direct in my approach to treatment. I work with the child and parents together and separately, facilitating better communication and giving support and advice.
