My philosophy on helping people is that a therapist/counselor is a guide on a journey. While guides often have knowledge the traveler may not, the guide is there to share their knowledge and journey with them on their travels to the goals/destination they seek to reach. It is a collaborative effort that requires effort from both parties to achieve the desired outcome and to navigate the challenges that occur on the journey.
Often circumstances in our lives can rob us of the opportunity to become the person you were created to be and living our best life can be stifled. Regardless of what you have been through or are currently going through, you have the power to take back what belongs to you. Naomi is passionate about empowering women on how to survive and to regain their life back through trauma recovery. She is specifically trained to work with a variety of clients with issues related to depression, anxiety, substance abuse issues and other stress responses. Naomi also specialized in guiding women to develop skills that increase their effectiveness.
First and foremost, you have taken a huge step by seeking out services for your mental health. If there is one certainty, it is that life isn't always easy. Whether you are struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, or maybe just having a hard time adjusting to your current life situation; you deserve to have someone who can help you through this time in your life. We all deserve the opportunity to be validated and supported in our journey to grow through our trials and tribulations.
I provide an accepting and compassionate environment so that you can begin the healing process and move towards meaningful, long term change. My areas of focus are eating disorders and co-occurring disorders such as OCD, mood disorders, and trauma. I also work with individuals that have had bariatric surgery and also have an eating disorder. I approach food and body issues with the understanding that an ED can affect any person in any body. Clients that are seeking treatment for eating disorders will be encouraged to experience health and body acceptance through a non-diet approach.
For the Highly Sensitive Person and Empath, the world can be an overwhelming place. Loud noises, large groups, and energetic overload are land mines we train ourselves to dance around. These individuals are “super sensing” - their central nervous systems absorb more sensory and energetic information than the average person. Years of taking in this level of input without awareness in our fast-paced world often leads to symptoms of anxiety, depression, and patterns of codependency. By increasing understanding and developing compassion for our internal experience, we can begin to live from a more authentic, empowered place.
What if there was a better way to manage your difficult emotions and thoughts? Or, receive help when you feel stuck, and emotionally overwhelmed. Perhaps, you are experiencing immense pain from your previous hurtful and traumatic experiences. Or, you are recovering from the death of a loved one and are unsure where to begin your healing process. Let me be that person to help you in your healing journey. In therapy, I strive to create a warm, caring, and safe environment for you to gain a deep sense of self-awareness and understanding. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults.
Is your adolescent struggling in school? Are you having difficulty keeping his/her behavior under control? Is your child acting differently (isolating themselves, arguing more than usual, avoiding peers, self-harming)? Are you struggling with a divorced or blended family situation? I would love to be able to help you, your child, and your family. I have been working with at-risk, troubled youth and their families for over 15 years. This includes working closely with the school, juvenile system, and medical practitioners, as well.
Do you ever wonder how some people just seem to genuinely enjoy life, while you struggle to simply make it through the day? Do you feel overwhelmed or stuck with your present situation or circumstances? Do you have goals for yourself but are unsure of how to achieve them? Maybe you have stresses in your life that you just don't know how to cope with each day. Or maybe the way you have been coping is what is holding you back from moving forward. The goal of therapy is to improve your quality of life and emotional well-being.
I work from the Heart Center with a deep sense of caring and compassion for the highest good of my clients. In over 30 years of practice, I have been fortunate to have received excellent training in psycho-spiritual development, family systems therapy, NLP, and energy healing. I aim to help clients to strengthen self-reliance, combining both a psycho-spiritual and outcome oriented perspective, exploring current challenges as well as deeper issues that may have lingered.
I have specialized in helping individuals, couples, and families with life's problems for over 30 years. Along the way I have completed extensive training programs, worked in psychiatric and addiction settings, and learned from many wise and experienced senior professionals. My knowledge and experience are combined with a respectful, down-to-earth approach where clients may feel safe and supported. Help is given to better understand problems as well as concrete recommendations are offered regarding how to better manage and overcome them. Tools are offered and taught. My approach both guides and collaborates with the client towards making healthier choices and implementing them.
Feeling disconnected from your spouse? Want to improve your sexual relationship or intimacy? Does your relationship feel stuck or unsatisfying emotionally and sexually? Having frequent conflicts or fights? Do you wish your partner could meet your emotional or physical needs and desires? Want help overcoming jealousy, insecurity, or sexual shame/guilt? Struggling to overcome an affair? Looking for help with non-monogamy, kinks/fetishes, or LGBTQ issues? Navigating solutions to these issues can feel overwhelming and difficult. Rest assured that you can have a stronger, more connected, sexually fulfilling life and relationship.
"Never underestimate a person's capacity for change." This motto has driven my approach to assisting others throughout my 10+ years as a helping professional. We all have a unique set of circumstances and experiences that shape us for better or worse. This sometimes results in difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviors. If you desire to overcome life's obstacles, therapy may be your opportunity. Whether you suffer from anxiety, depression or any other issue life may throw at you, empowerment and insight is just a step away.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with over ten years of experience working with teens, couples, and families. There is no such thing as an ideal client. That is too boring. The way I do therapy is relaxed. I am not your average therapist, and I am not going to be like, "How does that make you feel?" but I am going to say, "What up! How are we doing today?" I never stop learning, and when you have me as a therapist, you will see that you will fall back in love with learning. Overall, I am just honored you allowed me to help you!
My passion for helping others has offered me many opportunities to help children, families and adults through many life changes. Your personal goals are my sole focus and I enjoy using the skills I've developed over the years to offer you the stepping stones to a healthier, happier you.
I have 25 years of experience working with at-risk youth (12 years old and up), adults, families and couples. I partner with them to help them overcome significant difficulties and trauma from the past, including sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. I firmly believe that identity (who you are) and behavior (what you do) are two distinct things. Your behavior does not determine your identity. I help individuals, couples and families to examine core beliefs that are contributing to their current difficulties, to help them to decide which ones are true and helpful, and which ones are not, to bring about true and lasting change.
In today's world, people often find ourselves going from one day to the next by going through the motions, leaving them feeling unfulfilled and overwhelmed. When we encounter life's hurdles, we have difficulty understanding why or how to deal with them. Choosing a therapist to help you navigate obstacles is a personal and courageous choice. The therapy process is where you and I come together to help you on a journey of relief from distress and increased personal growth and happiness. I strive to build authentic, trusting, and long-lasting relationships with my clients.
MY SCHEDULE IS CURRENTLY FULL. When was the last time somebody really listened? When was the last time you felt really heard? Being understood is an important starting point on any journey towards healing. Once we feel understood, we can begin trying new, more effective, approaches to address the problems that have disrupted our life and robbed us of joy. Together, we will find an approach that will be effective for you and begin to create something new, moving you towards more peace, satisfaction, and joy in life.
I work with people who want to move from emotional pain, conflict or confusion toward more happiness, peace and passion in their life, work, and relationships. Together, we'll learn to observe repeating life patterns and examine how the past might be influencing your present and future. Our work together can also help you discover and strengthen the creative, emotional, and intuitive resources that can lead you toward more passionate, fulfilling life.
