While sex can be a pleasurable part of life, its misuse can lead to infinite heartache and misery. Sexual behavior problems are multifaceted, and are often rooted in an attempt to cope with painful non-sexual issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and broken relationships. I work with individuals who have acted out sexually and also with survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.

Dr. Soloveychik focuses on treatment of sex and love addiction (pornography, infidelity, escorts, romantic obsessions) and sexual anorexia. For the past 15+ years, I’ve had the privilege to provide concierge therapeutic relationships to help individuals and their partners to stop out of control damaging sexually compulsive behaviors. I obtained a Masters of Education in Community Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. I am a professional member of The American Counseling Association (ACA), The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and The Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE).

You get a pit in your stomach when you think about, discuss, or engage in sex; you no longer or never enjoyed it. You have pain, erection, arousal, or orgasm issues and feel stuck. I work with individuals and couples with a variety of emotional and interpersonal concerns. I have a particular interest in working with issues around intimacy, sexuality, and identity. Sexual difficulties and dissatisfaction are surprisingly common. In fact, most of us will experience some sexual difficulties even in the best of relationships and at the best of times. However, misunderstood and unaddressed sexual difficulties can have a domino effect, negatively impacting how you view yourself, your partner, and your relationship. The result often entails unnecessary feelings of disconnection, frustration, anxiety, and shame, not to mention the loss of your sex life!

Change is possible and I believe you have the ability to create positive changes that will allow healing throughout your journey in life. Thoughts, emotions, and perceptions shape the way we interact with others, and in turn, how others interact with us. My approach is to create a safe, non-shaming, compassionate therapeutic environment coupled with a strong emphasis on collaboration. As an experienced and dedicated therapist for over 20 years, my goal is for you to learn tools and effective strategies to reach your mutually agreed upon goals in therapy.

I have 30 years of experience working with adults, and adolescents. The last 20 I have enjoyed working in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families addressing a broad range of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationships, parenting, adoption, sexual orientation, and pornography addiction just to name a few. I believe 50% of therapy is in the relationship with your therapist. I believe that many of the struggles we experience are caused by responding to new life circumstances using past life experiences. Although our earlier experiences offer a valuable perspective when dealing with new life circumstances this often causes us to feel stuck and can lead to disappointment and emotional distress. During therapy I work with clients collaboratively to introduce perspectives beyond the past in an effort to bring focus to the present. Through this work, clients can alleviate this "stuck” feeling and move toward leading fulfilling lives.

My focus is on encouraging the process of recovery, whether it is recovery from mental illness, sex addiction (including pornography, masturbation, compulsive infidelity), betrayal trauma, substance abuse or other types of addictions. I believe that recovery is made possible by a willingness to change, courage to commit, and the help of supportive people. I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space for clients to express themselves, process their experiences, and work on removing what is blocking their path to success and contentment.

My practice works with a diverse population. I specialize in addiction, both Sex Addiction and a range of other addictions. I run groups for sex addicts and for the partners of sex addicts. I also specialize in trauma and work with adolescent and adult trauma survivors, both male and female. The practice also works with the LGBTQ community.
