With a blend of humor and curiosity, we will draw from various therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, and EMDR.
Do you struggle with anxiety and self-limiting beliefs? Do you find yourself stuck in unhelpful patterns of thought that prevent you from fully engaging in life? In our work together, we will explore new ways of relating to your thoughts and feelings, freeing you to overcome obstacles and move towards a more fulfilling life. We will gently explore your past and current experiences, fostering deep insight and self-compassion that will empower you to live more expansively. In our sessions, we will create a space in which you can feel wholly seen, accepted, and empowered to explore the full spectrum of who you are.

For adolescents, I use techniques from various approaches including Cognitive Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies.
I seek to create a trusted space where individuals can be themselves, speak their minds, and explore aspects of their past or present that they find difficult. I support children, adolescents, and young adults, along with their family members, to address a variety of challenges or stressors. My therapeutic philosophy is relationally driven, trauma-informed, and flexible; we will collaboratively work to develop support that is right for you or your child.

I specialize in evidence-based techniques such as ACT, CBT, and DBT to identify and work through unhelpful thoughts, expand knowledge of coping skills, and to learn how to shift our behaviors from avoidance and protection to growth and value.
When we're struggling, it can take us away from the “now” and keep us stuck in a cycle. We will work together to get to the root of the problem and identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that have been holding you back from the life you want. We will learn to identify and reframe thought processes to inspire change in feelings and behaviors. Pain and suffering is inevitable in life, and it does not need to hold you back. We will learn to both make room for pain, and engage in behaviors toward your values. Ultimately, you will learn how to be comfortable being uncomfortable while challenging yourself to live a fulfilling life.

While the basis of my work is cognitive-behavioral therapy, I also integrate methods of EMDR, ACT and Schema therapy, tailored to individual needs.
Are you experiencing stressrelated issues like anxiety, depressive symptoms, insomnia, interpersonal conflicts or problems to perform? It is quite common that people with high standards experience a lot of pressure. Most people I work with are high performing clients such as managers, attornies, physicians and other freelance c-level professionals or students. Sometimes stress can be overwhelming and many individuals develop symptoms due to their and life's expectations. My goal is it to help you understanding triggers and work on coping mechanisms which will help you to improve your life.

I balance concepts of self- acceptance and change to instill the belief that real change is possible and within the client's power.
I enjoy working with adults, families, couples, and groups. I utilize a psychodynamic perspective influenced by existential psychotherapy and family systems, and incorporate Gestalt techniques and elements of narrative therapy. I have a foundational training in DBT and, depending on client’s needs, will teach concrete skills to strengthen emotion regulation, decrease anxious/ depressive symptoms, increase resilience and distress tolerance, improve communication, and strengthen boundaries in relationships.

I provide an empathetic and safe space where my clients can reveal anything without fear of judgement. I specialize in treating anxiety and depression and I do this by helping my clients to reframe negative thoughts. I also provide suggestions on a variety of tools and coping skills that may be beneficial. In addition, I have experience working with clients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This requires a bit of a different approach than other anxiety disorders, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) where you stay present in the moment and allow the thoughts rather than avoid or fight them.

I use an integrative therapeutic approach of person-centered therapy, mindfulness, behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy to help you become your most centered self.
Wherever you are on your path, I am here to meet and walk with you. I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate grief, anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, depression, body image issues, eating disorders, sexuality and gender, and life transitions. Therapy should be a space where growth is collaborative, creative, and safe. Healing can look and feel differently for everyone, which is why I prioritize a kind, calm, and supportive space for you to explore what your healing looks like. My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself, with support and no judgement. Change is possible.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
