I've maintained a psychotherapy private practice in Lower Manhattan for more than eighteen years, and about ten years ago moved to an office in a loft in TriBeCa. As a former corporate lawyer, I've developed a sub-specialty in working with attorneys and finance professionals around career issues, but I'm also gay and have worked with LGBT people and all sorts of other people around just about anything. I have nearly 50 years experience as a Clinical psychologist and am Professor Emeritus at Adelphi University. For the past two years, I have been exclusively a Telehealth provider through Zoom. I have been a practicing Social Worker for over 30 years. It has been my passion to help those in need . I graduated New York University in 1991 with a Masters Degree in Social Work and am also a Certified Life Coach. I also am the Vice President for a Private Not for Profit Social Service Agency in New York City serving those who live with mental illness, the homeless, HIV/AIDS, and Developmental Disabilities. In my private practice I have helped clients who have experienced depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, addictions and issues around self-esteem.

I take an eclectic approach to therapeutic modalities, incorporating psychodynamic and relational approaches with specific CBT, DBT, and mindfulness skills. I believe that exploring our past experiences and the ways we carry patterns of relating to people throughout our lives is the bedrock of therapeutic change, but that at times, it is important to focus on here and now skills in order to deal with acute crises.

James takes an eclectic approach to counseling which draws heavily on Person-Centered Therapy and Relational-Cultural Therapy, while also incorporating Multicultural Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.

Daniel provides therapeutic support from an individualized, person-centered approach in an attempt to meet each new patient where they are in their specific life-situation. He draws from an eclectic multicultural theoretical framework, incorporating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral approaches to treatment when appropriate. End compulsive and addictive behaviors, instead of using a substance, a process, or a relationship for instant gratification and to escape intolerable realities. As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, I treat sexual addiction, infidelity and intimacy anorexia.

Aaron’s approach to therapy is eclectic and draws from a variety of techniques including traditional psychodynamic principles and evidence-based practices that include Cognitive-Behavioral, Acceptance-Based, and Mindfulness principles. His approach is active, dynamic, and interactive rooted in trust, empathy, and acceptance within the therapeutic relationship. Aaron works collaboratively with clients to explore issues, establish goals, and build upon existing strengths to cultivate growth. In addition to clinical work, Aaron is involved in research, and is currently earning his PhD at NYU.

My background is in trauma-informed care and sexual abuse treatment. Most of my clientele are trying to manage depressive symptoms, anxiety, personality disorders, and battling various mental health conditions exacerbated by life. Some of the clients I see are also trying to identify who they are as individuals and find their way within this world. I work with many families, surrounding both complex and unique family issues. I am well versed in working with couples struggling with communicating with one another and having complex and unique marital issues.
