Contact me if you are struggling with relationship difficulties, sex, sexuality concerns, trauma, losses of loved ones, ADHD, depression or anxiety. I will help you better understand and accept yourself, and use your own insights and strengths to change and grow. I am also passionate about working with individuals, families and groups with cross-cultural/immigration background. Coming to United States as an international student myself, I deeply understand the challenges in the international community, the painful process of loss and separation from home countries, and difficulties to fit in due to language and cultural barriers.

I do this by taking a relational, attachment-based approach to therapy while folding in acceptance and mindfulness skills-based work as needed.
In an era where we’re bombarded with self-love messaging from all sides, too many of us are left to struggle with the nagging question: “But how do I love myself?” Some of us—especially those carrying marginalized identities—were never taught. Instead, we were given life scripts urging us to make ourselves small and focus solely on the ways we come up short. The fact that you’ve taken this step to find support is a pivotal moment; you’re acknowledging that you deserve better, and you’re willing to do the work to get there. I’d love to help you with that.

I work with men, women, and couples over 18 years of age. No matter what your reason is for seeking therapy, you deserve someone to witness your truth without reaction. You might be unsure whether you’re justified being in therapy or tell yourself that things aren’t really that bad and that you’re okay. But allowing someone to just be there with you creates the space to look at your expectations, thoughts, and feelings, and see what you want to do with them. It's valuable for someone to be part of your journey to help you explore what your narrative is and how it is affected by patterns and dynamics that affect all of us.

Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

Therapy is a place to explore feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, grief, and shame, and begin the work of generating positive and lasting change. My primary goal is to provide a nurturing therapeutic environment, free of judgment and rooted in empathy, where you feel heard and empowered. It is my firm belief that listening intently and with compassion, in a safe therapeutic setting, can help you navigate even the biggest challenges in your relationships with other people and with yourself. I’ve worked with clients facing profound life stressors, including death of family members, medical illness, and psychiatric diagnoses.

My clients tend to be high achievers, but they suffer from anxiety, depression, and/or self-esteem issues. They are givers who put others before themselves and struggle to set boundaries. Many of my clients had tough childhoods where their emotional needs weren't fully met and may struggle with ongoing difficult family relationships. I firmly believe we all have an innate ability to heal and grow. I'm here to help you access it. Whether you feel angry, hopeless, sad, stuck, or unfulfilled in your life, together, we will figure out what you want and how to achieve your goals.

Do you find yourself feeling stuck, unseen, or disconnected? Have these feelings intensified after 4+ years of pandemic? Are you wanting more from your relationships and your work? Do things like creativity and embodiment feel elusive and out of reach? Or are you a performer or achiever who is often put on a pedestal by those around you, idolized yet at a distance from the kind of care you actually want?

In order to shift anything, one must reach, with a gentle touch, the parts of ourselves that are able to transform. It’s only human to want to heal in order to function at our optimal capacity, whatever that might be for us. I passionately hold that we could all use a way to slow down our rapidly evolving lives—a way to hold space for what drives us forward, or slows us down in ways we’d like to speed up. Therapy is a space to peel back layers to help you move toward being fully expressed, in steady, easy participation with your life—even with its inevitable ups and downs and the in-between spaces.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
