I treat individuals, couples, and families with a range of mental health concerns and personal problems, such as addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, and personality disorders.

I am the founding executive director/owner of Aeon Counseling & Consulting, a company that empowers individuals and organizations to achieve their missions. I have nurtured my clinical practice independently with Spanish speaking populations for more than a decade and I believe in an approach that is ruthlessly compassionate.

I am an interactive, insight-oriented and solution-focused therapist. With compassion and understanding, I will work with you to help you build on your strengths, and attain the personal growth you are looking for.

Your child and I may be a good fit if they do not seem to “fit the mold” emotionally and/or behaviorally and you would like to support them with a therapy process. In sessions with me, children who are neurodiverse and/or experience anxiety, social skills challenges, trauma, and other needs will find a safe space to be themselves and explore ways to make changes at their own pace. I offer an emotionally supportive environment whether in- or outdoors which fosters deep therapeutic work. I even make sessions fun! Emotions are complex entities, fed by our experiences, beliefs, and relationships they can be both difficult to express and understand. For individuals who feel overwhelmed by their emotions compounded by the every-day stressors that life can bring, therapy provides a pathway to enhanced wellbeing. Welcome to Somerville Counseling! I’m Erik Gans, a therapist and licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in working with teenagers and adults facing challenges related to trauma, phobias, depression, and anxiety. Trained in EMDR, I can help you take a very structured approach to addressing past hurts, and implementing new coping skills. Although your experience is deeply personal, you don’t have to manage it alone.

I have over 22 years of experience working with children and families. The principles of wraparound are a major component of my work as I believe that families are the experts on their own experiences, strengths and needs. Building an integrated team of both natural and professional supports can help a family meet their goals for themselves in a way that is sustainable.

I began working in the field at 16 for an afterschool program at an outside placement school, things progressed from there. From then to now I completed a BS in Business and an MEd in Counseling & School Adjustment, I obtained an LCMHC in NH and LMHC in MA. I have worked with individuals, couples and families in many settings including schools, residential programs, detention settings, office settings and in the community.
