Welcome! With over 25 years of experience working with people of all ages as a trauma and grief therapist, I have helped individuals and families learn to cope with a wide range of issues including partner loss, anxiety, depression, family conflict, complex trauma and sexual assault. I provide parent guidance and coaching for caregivers who have children with challenging behaviors and special needs. I have expertise with foster, kinship and adoptive families. I offer therapy to tweens, teens and young adults who may need support with life transitions and relationships. My work with clients is always collaborative and strength-based.

I am a client centered therapist who supports your capacity to learn new perspectives and ways of interacting with self and the world. My approach includes helping you to gain new skills to navigate current challenges, past trauma, and develop more healthy relationship patterns moving forward. I do this by using active listening, empathy and compassion in a safe and judgement free environment, My style is interactive, my methods are eclectic, meaning I use a variety of approaches. I meet you where you are and let you set the pace. Sometimes we work together very briefly, other times for longer depending on your goals.

If I were to imagine an ideal client, it would be someone who wants to change no matter what their needs are. It would also be someone who is open to new and innovative treatment modalities. It is also beneficial to have someone who is not hindered in what they discuss. Everything is important.

I offer compassionate, heart-and-soul-centered, nonjudgmental, supportive, strengths-based therapy in the comfort of your own home via telehealth. I offer evidence-based, client centered, treatments delivered with compassion, humor and intelligence. My job satisfaction comes from seeing large changes in my clients over a short period of time. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and include elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psychosocial intervention that is the most widely used evidence-based practice for improving mental health. Guided by empirical research, CBT focuses on the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems and changing unhelpful patterns in cognitions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes), behaviors, and emotional regulation.

Dr. William R. Newman, a licensed psychologist for years, specializes in the treatment of complex developmental trauma with dissociation. Dr. Newman's treatment of anxiety, depression, and trauma, will help you alleviate your symptoms and causes of your distress. Couples and families will improve their relationships by effectively communicating and increasing their understanding of each other's needs. You will learn to communicate from your true/highest/spirit/soul SELF with LOVE, and compassion. Dr. Newman helps you help yourself with self-leadership to increase your consciousness/awareness to make the best and healthiest choices for all parts of you and your relationships.

My approach is warm, playful, and relational. I work with children and teens whose stories are in the making; stories that are stored in their bodies and minds; stories that are played out through behaviors and actions. I help interpret behaviors as we work towards change and healing. I engage with children, adolescents and families when something feels “off”, when something bad, sad, or scary happens. Together we work on regulating feelings, thoughts, and experiences in our body. You learn to become more attuned to each other and connect.

I have over 15 years of experience treating children under 10 and their families. I understand the intense worry and uncertainty that can come when a child is struggling—as well as the stress, exhaustion, and even guilt that results from grappling with complex parenting issues—and I’m here to help. Behavioral and emotional problems that crop up in the first decade of life are often very treatable, and taking action early can help put your child on a better path for the future. My goal is to help clients target specific problems, experience rapid, sustainable, meaningful improvement, and move forward with confidence, skill, and joy.
